I wanted not to like this place. I thought the yummy smells emanating from the bags of flavored coffee beans(grand marnier, vanilla, hazelnut, etc) attracted people who weren’t hard core coffee lovers. But this was one of two places I aimed to try at the markets. My small latte($ 4 is pretty much the going rate) was excellent. Yummmmmm. Be drawn by the scent but stay for the brew.

I’ll tell you a secret I’ve heard; If you have a house on the market and it won’t sell, bake some bread or a cake when people come to view it. Apparently this will ensure the property is whisked out from under you in no time at all. Well. I would like to update that golden rule. Get coffee from The Coffee Connection in Freo when you first put your house on the market and its sure to sell in a flash — the house and more of the coffee. All who smell the divine nectar that is fresh coffee beans are automatically entranced by them — whether they drink coffee or not. I fall in to the latter category — the not drinking coffee one — but I still stopped abruptly in my tracks as I strode towards the Coffee Connection. Luscious beans, exotic and earthy, with a twist; Choc marshmallow coffee, black forest coffee and macadamia nut coffee. I was enchanted by the gorgeous goods that lay before me. I bought some samples and now I’m more of a coffee drinker than I used to be…

I swear I run on coffee, I feel like I am always drinking it and love it when I find a place that sell delicious coffees. This place is exactly what makes me happy. The coffees are just perfection and the choices of different types of coffee is out of this world. I have has quite a few different ones and whilst I couldn’t really tell the difference unless I tried them all at the same time. The smells is what really draws you in though, but in this case yes it does taste as good as it smells!

The smell! The smell! In a style similar to warner brothers cartoon characters a tangible smell wafts under my nose, my feet lift me up and I levetate towards the bags of beans. Beans from Columbia, beans from Ecuador, beans from France, beans with vanilla, mocha style beans, all beans. Although this may read ilke a Rivers TV commercial, the variety of coffee needs to be emphasised. Beans beans everywhere. The worst part of my Saturday came when I smelt these beans, I hadn’t had my morning coffee and I had no wallet with me. Noooooooooooooooooooooooo.

The Coffee Connection stall at Freo Markets just smells So. Damn. Good. I don’t really drink coffee myself, but this place inspires me to. It’s just impossible to resist all those big sacks full of shining beans, wafting their alluring scents at me. I’ve never seen such a wide range of flavours, and it’s fun to smell them all. Like I said, I don’t normally drink coffee, but the beans just look and smell so good that they make me buy them. I then take them home where they enjoy a peaceful existence shut away in a cupboard, only surfacing for the occasional Sunday morning brew and doing nothing but spreading their delicious fragrance in the meantime. Mmm. Mmmm.

Lovers of all things caffeinated and decadent, rejoice! The Coffee Connection in Fremantle markets is home to the best selection of flavoured gourmet coffee beans you ever did encounter. This place can be smelt as soon as you pass the candy store at the hall’s entrance on Henderson Street. Could it be an Italian desert shoppe? An Irish liquer bar? Perhaps a chocolatier beckoning me with the seductive promise of a fountain of dark, melting cocoa? Coffee Connection’s smell certainly does inspire my poetic side. But you’ve really got to see and smell this place to get what I’m on about. There’s a variety of the best Arabica beans to please any coffee drinker, which they can also serve for you to take away and drink, or grind and put in a bag for you to take home. My favourites are chocolate marshmallow, cinnamon hazelnut crème, Russian tea cookie and Sambuca. I think.
