I’ve been here quite a few times now and always forget to review because I’m too busy stuffing my face. It’s just such a handy, fun place to meet friends for a(reasonably) cheap and cheerful lunch or dinner. I mean, come on… who doesn’t love tasty Mexican food, funky furniture, bright colours, frozen margaritas and a beer garden out the back! All your menu staples are there, drinks list and bar is well stocked plus they host regular trivia nights on Wednesdays and have local artists and performers some weekends as well. Arriba!

The food is good but don’t expect good service. Every time we order takeaway they stuff it up. You will get one too many items or a few less. Once they even forgot they had my coworker on the phone… For 10mins.

Greeted as we walked in the door by friendly faces and an enthusiastic hi was a good start to our night. After browing the rather extensive looking but somewhat ‘same same’ menu decisions were made and orders placed! Fast friendly service. Food came out quickly piping hot and delicious. I had the Chipotle chicken burrito and felt it was spicy enough but my spice loving partner decided he was trying the hot sauce on his California burrito and loved it. They stuffed up one of our margarita jugs but it was too late before we realised, plus it was delish anyway. The sugar on the glasses was a great touch too. Fairly good value, what usually brings us here is the fact we know we can get a filling fast meal before heading to a gig and we wont be late! I also suggest you check out the art, they have an artist of the month and you can purchase art if something takes your fancy! I love supporting places that support the arts!

My review is probably a bit skewed because I came here with fairly mediocre expectations after reading other reviews, but hey — I really enjoyed myself :) First up, the ambiance is definitely good, from the cozy front section to the awesome open space out the back. The furniture is simple, between simple metal tables and chairs to pine benches etc. Festoon lights and colorful blue and yellow colors make it all quite festive. I had a Californian Burrito, and a liter bottle of sangria. The burrito was about the same size as what you’d get from GYG or Zamberos, so it’s not overly small but I do agree, a tad expensive for what it is. Taste wise — excellent. Between the crispy chips, tasty chicken and chipotle mayo, plus I added the El Yucateco XXXTRA hot sauce — YUM!!! Sangria was good too. Glasses filled with ice and fruit, rims covered in sugar, good stuff. Quite potent too *hic* :p All in all, I had a good time, enjoyed the food and will be back.

I really like the burritos here. The frozen margaritas aren’t half bad either. I frequent here for luang when I’m in the area and they are generally do really fast take away. It’s a great place to chill out with a few friends in an evening with a few drinks. The music can be a bit uhh… interesting at times but other than that, great!

I was doing fine until I went to use the bathroom. Seriously guys, those toilets are worse than almost anything I’ve seen travelling through Asia & the Middle East. And from what the boys I was with were saying, the men’s toilet was no better, though I doubt they would have been confronted by used sanitary items the way the girls were! Good thing the watermelon margaritas and sangria were sufficient to calm my gag reflex, but seeing that seriously made me question the hygiene of the entire business. I don’t want to think about how the kitchen may or may not be run…

Their burritos are pretty good. The frozen margaritas rock and the straws are strong. Having no lawn in the beer garden would also help keep overheads down. Music is a bit iffy though. What even is this cover of Stevie Wonder?

Got a chicken burrito bowl of some sort. The bowl was actually a wrap deep fried into the shape of a bowl which was cool. The contents in the bowl were really bland and flavourless, had to add in spicy sauce to make it more interesting. The meal wasn’t bad, just could use a little more flavour and be a little cheaper or made more worth it for the price.

I reckon it’s because I’ve been away from Texas for way too long that I had a hankering for a burrito whilst walking through the Valley. I must confess I’d passed this place several times with my nose pointed up because as I’ve mentioned above, I’m originally from the Tex-Mex capital of the world. Beach Burrito just seemed like one of those 3am post-drinking traps meant to fleece unsuspecting stumblers out of the nearby Fortitude Valley bar scene. Boy am I glad I decided to give this place another look! The first thing you notice when you enter the shop is that the open seats that face Brunswick are usually empty for a reason: the back courtyard is the bomb. Ample metal tables and chairs litter the open-air are which is decorated by tasteful graffiti. One of the signs even directs patrons toward the location of the toilets. Each of the tables has a woven basket that holds cutlery and at least 2 different types of hot sauce: Tapatio and one habanero based«extra spicy» concoction. The latter was hot but not overly so but may be a bit too strong for the average Australian tastebud. I got the Mucho Burrito which the menu touted as «Everything but the kitchen sink!» The menu dictated a requirement of chicken, pork and 2 types of beef(including chili con carne) topped with a smattering of rice and greens. Verdict? Not bad. Really not bad at all. The proteins were all quite tender and the flavors meshed well with the lettuce, onion and guacamole. Overall it was a pretty satisfying meal albeit a tad heavy on the rice side. So despite all of that, why 3-stars? Well it absolutely boils down to price. The burrito cost $ 15 which is approximately twice as much as I would typically pay back in the states(tax included). The burrito I would get back at home would also be much larger than the one I got at Beach. I know it’s not fair to compare Australian costs to American costs but honestly $ 15 for a simple wrap of rice, meat and beans is just too excessive. In summary, Beach Burrito has great ambiance and pretty decent food. It’s a place that is worth checking out at least once but preferably when there are specials available.

Nope, nope nope. Quite expensive. Very little flavour. Small serves. Lovely décor and outside area, spunky wait-staff and a so-awful-and-cheap-that-it’s-great beer, so that’s nice. But ultimately I cannot understand how this is a franchise. Perhaps they’re trying to compete with Montezuma’s as «most bland Mexican»?

This place could be great but it is just average. Average food, a bit pricey, service was a bit slow. Nothing about our visit convinced us we should come back. Better Mexican options within walking distance.

Fancy marketing and design with overpriced tasteless tacos. $ 3 taco Tuesdays were a ‘deal’ but were lackluster in flavor with a long time to wait for them. Typically they are 2 for $ 10! Would be a ripoff as 2 were not filling! And $ 15 burritos. What a joke, selling an idea without a developed product. Consumers have the money, consumers have the power. Come on Australia.
