Exactly what I need from a breakfast café. Don’t let the outside turn you off, this place is serving the goods. I had the brioche bacon and egg burger. I don’t have the words to describe it. The guacamole was perfect seasoned, and the egg was perfectly runny. Probably my best breakfast in Melbourne — so far. Check it out if you’re in Footscray.

If it wasn’t for being milked of $ 26 at the Milking station I would give it a better rating. But $ 15 for avocado toast, $ 5 for bacon and $ 3 for each egg is a little steep for my liking. Better value and taste elsewhere. $ 3 per egg seriously!

Extremely and oblivious to their customer needs. Be prepared to wait… And wait…

From the outside, it looks like just any other typical Ozzie milk at with Newspapers names emblazoned across the façade. But inside its a completely different world! Wonderful menu with a Spanish/Mexican influence, hot sauce will accompany your salt and pepper shakers on the table. Padre coffee on the machine and great baristas, but the service was a little slow/disjointed/dispassionate, and the layout is a bit clunky with the till at the front door and café spilling out either side. Great for a change from traditional Melbourne café breakfast fare, great coffee but doesn’t seem to have a lot of soul(if that’s what you’re after)!

Sat at a long table alongside a family. We ordered two piccolos and two strong flat whites, which tasted okay, as it was the house blend. We ordered the baked eggs with sausage. Our order took awhile on account it was baked eggs. Nice brick venue with large windows and counter seating. It is located a few blocks from the station, so it was easily accessible.

What a surprise! Nothing about this place alludes to the amazing Latin American inspired menu on offer. Not the name, nor the décor. It’s a small place, with a misleading shop front. From the outside I was pretty sure it was nothing but a milk bar. Walking in there’s a surprising amount of space for eating in and seating for those waiting on take away orders. And big windows mean there’s plenty of light. It was a really comfortable place to sit, relax and over eat while reading a good book. I’m not typically a meat eater. I am definitely an omnivore, but chicken and bacon are my usual go to meat products. What led me to order the meat filled Toasted Cubanos when my favourite avo on toast was available? Inspiration from the movie Chef. That movie made excessive amounts of meat with cheese look delicious! And it was! The sandwich comes with porketa, ham, chipotle mayo, tomato relish and gruyère cheese. EPIC! I’m drooling just thinking about if again. The menu also included huevos rancheros and corn cakes with guacamole which I’ll be back to try out! As usual I enjoyed a hot chocolate, although they have Padre coffee which I’ve heard is very good. The hot chocolate is a must try. Wonderfully sweet, with a little bit of spice and cinnamon! Delicious! Can’t wait to head back there and make my way through the menu.

I think this is my new favourite place in the inner wild West… If you’re southside like moi and have friends westside, Footscray Milking Station is a good compromise as its in the middle. It’s a cute little café smack bang in on the of the prettier tree-lined streets of Footscray and within walking distance of Footscray station. Great selection of cakes to choose from and the soy lattes are pretty spectacular too. I had the huevos rancheros with bacon and they were rather delicious — two poached eggs encased in tortilla shell with beans, cheese and sour cream. Also got a couple of thousand rations of bacon on top, although two would have sufficed. There is no harm in being generous though, so thanks for that guys. My brunch companions had the corn fritters and gushed about their deliciousness. I will try them next time round. Highly recommend if you’re in the hood. But even if you’re not its a short drive or train ride away. Go on, cross the river. Inner west is tres cool these days with plenty of options.

Breakfasts out west do not get any better than this, milkshakes in the west also do not get better than this. I adore this place :) Recently they extended and more indoor tables means less of a fight for my morning breakfast on a weekend! I have never had a bad meal here, breakfasts are always cooked to perfected and they are not uppity about making small changes to your breakfast menu order like other cafes have started to do. I cannot comment on the coffee but can say their milkshakes are to die for, served in an old school stainless steel container and using Jonesy’s milk they are just amazing. Service wise I would say it is great, they are a small outfit and it is very busy. They do their best and always manage a smile along the way. My tip at the moment would be the eggs atlantic with an amazing Salmon fillet as part of it! Makes the old smoked salmon seem a little pedestrian I must say :)

What a super sweet little gem, tucked in Footscray’s back streets! I went for a very early weekday breakfast, and everything was very, very good. The Huevos Rancheros was really yummy and an interesting take on the dish; perfectly poached eggs with a sprinkling of cheese, nestled in corn chip baskets and surrounded by delicious refried beans, coriander and yoghurt. There were some great flavours in there(although a little seasoning was needed). It was a large-ish serve, it wasn’t heavy or too rich; I finished the lot without a hint of my usual ‘I-hate-my-life-and-am-filled-with-regret’ feeling that accompanies a big egg breakfast. My friend had the quinoa porridge with fresh papaya, coriander and coconut cream, and that looked amazing. Would definitely it that next time.

Have had better & cheaper coffee elsewhere and, importantly, staff with a far better attitude than here. I get the impression that those who work here consider themselves a cut above all others & I’m surprised that some of them can fit their heads through the door. Why the hell don’t café staff — in general — realise that Melbourne’s suburbs have many options for coffee drinkers & easily lose those patrons they«jack off». Such patrons seldom return & take their custom elsewhere. By the way … to remove outdoor pavement service at ‘The Milling Station’ on the grounds that patrons should be «satisfied with the new courtyard out the back» is a very retrograde step. As the café’s rather bland façade is anything but welcoming at the best of times, the lack of pavement tables gives any passing trade the impression it is closed. Suggestion: Lose the attitude, replace pavement dining & make all efforts to attract back the many locals who have been put off by the above-mentioned negatives.

I think The barista was lazy and gave us skim milk instead of full cream in one of our coffees. :(

The coffee here is great! Had the breakfast brioche which was nice and freshly toasted. Really good mix of flavours. We also had eggs florentine with extra bacon. Loved the bacon here — this was a big, rich meal. The food is a bit on the exxy side but it’s really quite good.

With a North Westerly Aspect, this café is located perfectly for a spot of brunch, lunch or dinner. This was my first visit, and as I only popped in for a coffee, I can’t say too much right now, but the menu looked delicious, and the coffee was good. So I’ll be be going all«Governator» on this place too!
