Amazing menu and great service, what is there not to like. After having a browse at the rose street markets pop in for an afternoon snack or early dinner.

This is the kind of place I go to wishing I was fussy with food because there is literally nothing that I wouldn’t order on this menu. It. Is. AMAZING. Main reasons being: 1. They have one of the most delicious big breakfasts/big vego breakys that I have seen plus then a whole lot of interesting, creative takes on classics and a whole range of things that I would never have thought of to start my day. Things such as cured salmon quinoa salad with roasted cauliflower and crunchy kale. They smash out home made baked beans with roti and fry some seriously delicious fritters with av. And the mushrooms with truffle oil… mmmm. 2. Their bloody Mary and Bloody Margarita is worth stopping a dry July for. Not that I would do such a month of torture. 3. They are on the side of Rose street markets. LOVE. 4. Natural light, beautiful décor and so many indoor plants = happiness. 5. Great staff and great coffee. If you need a sweet treat with your coffee they have some seriously good looking ones of those too. 6. Everything on the menu is so colourful with veg and/or fruit and healthy bits. Vego friendly and vegan friendly. Quinoa coconut milk porridge with mango mmmmmm. 7. THEREIS A COCKTAILBARONTOPOFTHEBUILDING.

Nice little café in Fitzroy. Putting it out there from the beginning, the coffee here is not as good as Industry(which is around the corner) and the food is not as good as Hammer & Tong. But this doesn’t mean you shouldn’t come here, it is still pretty good. The coffee is All Press beans, no single origin just a blend. It is made well for All Press, but nothing too special. I think what makes this café is the food. Nothing on the menu is stick standard. Everything is a little bit different. Of course this is said in a good way. The smashed Avo is really good if you are looking for something vego, or the porridge if you are hoping for something a little bit more sweet. The service here is good and friendly. The décor is slightly strange, my friend and I were debating if we like it. I didn’t. He did. Do it is all on personal taste. Either way, if you are in the area and want to try something new stop by.

A delightful find right next door to the Rose Street Artists’s Market. We sat upstairs for the breeze and the view while enjoying crumpets and iced coffee. The lunch menu looked intriguing but the hour was not right…

Came here for breakfast on our sad, last day in Melbourne at a friend’s recommendation. Got their Barley porridge with raspberry and pistachio crumble which was simply beautiful and surprisingly filling. Enjoyed the pearly barley bits and the interesting mix of the fruit and nut. Also had their full cream milk latte which was very good– another friend had a cappuccino and raved more than once about it at our table. Definitely recommend their coffees. Friends ordered(interestingly savoury) French Toast pulled pork, grilled egg, seeded mustard and pork crackling and the hearty Young Bloods breakfast that came with sausage, greens, tomato, bacon, house baked beans and egg. Would love to come back to try their(Sweet) Belgian waffle with peanut butter ice cream, honeycomb and chocolate or their(Savoury) Toasted Brioche with field mushrooms, soft egg and truffle oil Hollandaise. They also had a great list of cold pressed juices– but it was a slightly-difficult toss up between coffee or juice and coffee won by a fair margin. Very cool because they have a rooftop bar with beer on tap, jugs that can be made as well as bottles of beer, cider as well as wine– sparkling, white, red, rose and sweet. Spirits available as well as their cool rooftop cocktails. Another reason to come back and visit! Definitely come visit for breakfast/brunch, lunch or drinks!

Really good coffee and great alternative to Industry Beans when that is full. Right next door to the artists market — people watching hot spot. Great service

Bright and airy with large rooftop and outdoor rear areas. An uncommon style for Fitzroy. Diner probably conjures the wrong the image, though Melbourne is doing its best to redefine the term. It is a very high ceilinged café serving breakfast and lunch. They have a delicious looking menu. Drinks include the usual coffee, tea, but they are licensed and do cocktails! I thoroughly enjoyed the roasted cauliflower with confit ocean trout and hazelnut. Perfect serving size and wonderful flavours. Preceded by a chai latte with real tea, no bloody powder. It is right on the corner entrance of the Rose St Market, so it will be absolutely jammed on the weekends. Inside they have a 2 and 4 seater tables plus a long table and a long stool table. There are two seater stool tables by the wall. Outside is where the action will be on the weekends. The upstairs open air bar is very well done. Industrial styling with primary colours has a very practical design and choice of materials given its exposure to the elements.

Day 1, aka Opening Day, probably isn’t the best day to review but quite honestly, I could not pick fault(& will return). From the owners of Rose St Artisan Markets & Hell of the North, Young Blood’s Diner is a welcome addition to grungy Fitzroy & completely grunge free! Street level is the sun lit café with warm timber & the occasional pop of yellow. Upstairs & open on weekends, the bar area gives gorgeous city/burbs views with an unfussed but well designed layout. There’s also bright yellow bar stools that overlook the market(open weekends from 11 – 5) if you wish to dine alfresco. Head Chef Sascha Randle, who’s CV boasts Builders Arms Hotel &PM24, has put together a tempting menu with a little bit of everything & a whole lot of personality. I look forward to returning on a balmy summer’s eve… It’s a yes from me!
