It’s taken me over two years to write a review, but honestly the wait was worth it. I’ve tried every main, dessert and entrée they offer. I have little experience with the raw. 5 stars for these guys, amazing food and service, highly recommended and an amazing place to go and be able to try ANYTHING on the menu! Well done guys, we’ll keep coming back

It’s been a while since I ate here, but the memories are good. We tried the kimchi dumplings, green curry and… er, something else. As I said, it’s been a while! Would definitely go back.

Went here for a friend’s birthday and was excited about the diverse menu — vegan /raw /organic etc. Even the wine was«biodynamic»! Don’t get me wrong — everything tasted great, even the mock chicken and I usually don’t like mock meats, but felt it was a bit overpriced at around $ 20 for a main(and this is coming from a Perth girl!). Also the waiters seemed a bit impatient taking our plates and glasses, always asking if we were done yet. Vibe was kinda rushed. Melbourne, I think there’s better value out there if you love raw and vegan, even on the same street. But love the unique Asian-fusion vegan menu — the rawzanga in particular was a standout. Good for special occasions but won’t be going back regularly until my wallet can handle it.

Hands-down the best vegan food in Melbourne. The food is delicious, the menu is diverse, and the service is great. As far as mains go, I’ve had the Mexican Chili Beans, the Lentil Hot Pot, and the Dragon Bowl, and they’ve all been delicious. My meat-loving father had the Japanese Curry and practically licked his bowl clean — he kept saying, «Are you sure it’s not real beef?» For less-pricey options, they also have wraps — I’ve had the faux-chicken wrap and it was delicious. They also serve alcohol — last time, I had the Purple So Mac cocktail with soju and pomegranate. It was amazing, and really unique. I seriously want to come back and try every item on the menu. Allllllllll the thingz. As far as atmosphere goes, it’s a bright, welcoming place that’s often buzzing with people. More of a warm-and-friendly vibe than a romantic date-night vibe, probably, but still a good place to take your feller.(or lady.) The staff is also super-friendly, smiling a lot, and the food comes out fast. They made a mistake on our last bill(adding a dessert that we didn’t actually order) and they immediately subtracted it, apologising profusely for their error, as though they had stabbed a small child. We kept saying«It’s ok, it’s ok!» You don’t often get service like that in Melbourne. Price-wise, it’s more expensive than Vegie Bar across the street, but really in line with most restaurants in Melbourne, and definitely good value since the food is consistently delicious. Really one of my favourite places to eat in Melbourne.

I’m currently cleansing so this place was perfect, vegan, raw and vegetarian. Food is fresh and everything I saw looked delicious. I had the dragon bowl but substituted rice noodles. Veggies were fresh and it was still very filling. Tried the Thai green curry and everything that came out looked amazing! Even if you are a huge meat lover, I’m sure you could find something awesome. Dessert looked great and with no added sugar besides agave, you can’t go wrong! Some items can even be requested with no sugar. Will try a smoothie and nachos next time!

The location is great and this place can get really packed. Food options are good and their selling point is the«organic» label.

Yong is a favorite of mine. I eat here at least once a fortnight. Favorite dishes are the phở and dragon bowl. Burgers are great too. And the kimchi is AMAZING I usually order at least one side of kimchi. Also the Makgoli rice beer is delicious. The staff are always happy and friendly. I really love this place

Good service(altho my mate waited 20 minutes for the vegie wraps you see in the picture). Good food – healthy but not as tasty(and I had the spicy curry) as I had hoped. Awesome location in Fitzroy. Fresh juice(I had the immunizer). I will go back again but won’t rush(pretty expensive for bland tasting –yet healthy! food).

Awesome location. Good service except when they’re busy – the summer roll in pix took 20 min from order to serve! I had the spicy tofu curry which was rather bland and needed lots of salt(it was a little spicy). I will go back but not in a rush.

Was pleased to have the opportunity to visit this place as had been recommended on several blogs I follow and also by friends and family in Melbourne. So on our date night(thanks to sister in law) we ventured forth to Brunswick. Couldn’t get a table straight away as the place was already kicking but they took our mobile(they don’t do bookings) and we headed a few doors down to another vego joint for a quick entrée while we waited. Service was friendly and quick. We had a Korean BBQ dish and a soy fish dish both well presented with a range of accompaniments. We then had a raw tiramisu which was divine. The food was really good and not too expensive. Portions were completely adequate so whoever thought they had not had enough to eat must have a very big appetite! Love to visit again and try some more of their extensive menu. Was hard to decide!!! And it is all vegan…

Looking at the rest of my reviews, the only greenery I have on file is the Botanic Gardens. I visited Yong’s last week and expected it to be much the same as its Brunswick Street vegan neighbours. I was sceptical to say the least. I mean, EVERYTHING tastes better with bacon right? But wow. So flavour. Such amaze. I ate the Quinoa Fritters to start, followed by the Tofu Katsu and a decent slice of humble pie. 4⁄5 because like I said: everything tastes better with bacon.

Best resturant going around!!! Accomodates all good types: Raw, Organic, Vegan and Vego. Love the place, best astmosphere, always busy but always room for more. Staff are so friendly and helpful and lovely. Food is amazing! :) i want to come back to try the whole menu — all looks amazing and what i have eaten there has always been exceptional. Rawsange blow my mind, and all the other Raw menu items are delish and incredibly made too. Juices are fresh and thirst quenching. The food is of the highest quality and i love that they believe in food being more then just food. Love the place — has opened my mind to the world of HEALTHY food and that it doesnt have to be complicated or expensive for delicious ‘good for you’ food.

I really love the concept of this place: the combination of Asian with raw should be jarring, but somehow it works out well. The restaurant is small, but manages to not feel crowded. Staff were prompt to serve us and, though the food took a little while, it was quite good. I had the raw nachos: it tasted excellent but there were waaaay too many crackers and nowhere near enough of the sauces(which were served on the side), which was disappointing. The nut milks were a little grainy, and the chocolate one was… very cocoa-y. The raw cakes were good. I am disappointed that I didn’t try any of the meat dishes to compare them to the raw dishes. The greatest problem I had was the prices: it’s very expensive for what you get. I would certainly go to Yong’s again, but I do hope that their portions and prices become less inversely proportionate.

Well I was not really happy to go to a veggie place, since I love meat so much, but I had to try. And it was… Ok. I had a thai curry with brown rice, and hopefully the curry was nice enough for me to eat this weird rice. Tried a non-alcoholic piña colada, which tasted more like water than anything else. Would I go there again? No, but I have no reason to come back. It’s just seems like a very nice place if you4re vegetarian. Well.

Easily the best vegetarian restaurant on the Brunswick Street strip. A lot tastier than Madame K’s and more realistic with their portions than Vege Bar. I ordered the Japanese curry as I’d had a similar dish several years ago at a restaurant in New Zealand. It was delightful, full of flavour and mixed well with the brown rice that was served as a side. The mock-meat was very much modelled on beef and had the exact texture and flavour. My girlfriend ordered the chickpea korma, which she wasn’t hugely impressed with, but it was her second choice as they’d run out of the green curry. We went to this restaurant on a Friday night and arrived late(8.30pm) to try and avoid having to wait, but unfortunately this place is so popular we still had to wait 15 minutes. A lot of people arrived after us and had the same problem, but they all stuck around, which to me is a sign that the place is a favourite of many.

The first time I came here, I ordered a rawsagna(raw lasagna!), and was really pleased with the taste. It came in a beautiful wedge-shaped slice(like a cake). I wish the slice was bigger though. I got the dragon bowl the second time I came here. This dish consisted of brown rice, salad, bean sprouts, and… soy beef! The beef imitation was a good attempt; it tasted nice but wasn’t really like beef. The rest of the dish was pretty simple and light but the combination was nice. My friend got the phở, and we were all very surprised at how it turned out. The broth tasted nothing like normal phở, and the noodles were different. We were kind of disappointed. The dish wasn’t bad, it just wasn’t very good. But what made it worse was that my friend had ordered it expecting a vegetarian version phở, not something completely different. My conclusion is that some dishes on the menu are terrific, but not all. Their take on a well-known dish may be very different from what you are used to! However, the unconventional feel of this little place definitely helps it fit in with Brunswick Street!

Vegans rejoice: Yong is here to make your life. OK, that sounds dramatic, but this little restaurant really is a vegan(and raw food) wonderland. With cheesecake! I’ve rarely enjoyed faux-meat while eating out before, but everything I’ve had on the menu is great here: the soy beef in the Korean BBQ dish is firm and tasty, and the grilled soy king fish pulls apart like the real thing(or very close at least). Many of the mains come with brown rice and are all kinds of healthy, making this a good midweek staple when you promise yourself you’ll eat something green, but there’s also burgers(cooked and raw), nachos and kimchi pancake for when you need something less wholesome. And the raw chocolate cheesecake is ridiculous! Dense and an intense choc hit. There’s no license and no BYO, so drinking happens elsewhere.
