If you are moving into your new home, what type of catalogue home would you like it to be? If you’re answer was contemporary with class: Gannan’s the man for you. Plenty of furniture to drool over with a snap of creativity in every work. Whether it’s subtle or a feature piece that pops. The selection of lights and lamps are varied in tastes and creative or subdued depending on your tastes. Once you walk through all of this you head into the creative living space, things to fill your shelves and cupboards with. Fun kitchen ideas and wooden toys for the kids. There’s a lot to like about Thomas Gannan because he’s not just selling furniture, he’s selling a lifestyle. And I left wanting to live like that.

Thomas Gannan is one of those great shops that just seems to attract people. From its clever window displays and quirky products, it certainly seems to have a lot going on. And this is very true. The busy store carries a wide range of homeware — from dazzling lighting, jazzy cushions, trendy table matter, witty décor pieces and functional kitchen ware. It also has a lovely range of children’s toys, room accessories and gifts. But more importantly, Thomas Gannan carries a good mix of exclusive Jardan sofas and stunning Arthur G lounges. It also features a selection of environmentally sustainable Australian timber furniture, which can be custom made to suit your needs. I’ve bought quite a few presents from this store and have always been impressed by the service. It’s not often that a sales person asks whether you would like a new piece but they do here!

If you’re hunting for gifts and don’t want to spend a fortune, go to Thomas Gannan. There’s some really cool homewares here and all at reasonable prices. I’ve actually bought a really random mix of things here in the past: a grooming kit for my dad, a mat and leather gloves for myself, wooden and gadget-type toys for my niece and nephew, and a lamp for a friend. It’s the prices that make it an exciting store, because you know that if you want something bad enough, even if you’re ‘not supposed to be shopping for yourself’, that you’ll probably be able to afford it. I guess that also means that anyone looking for unique or designer gear should avoid it — it’s more like the Dangerfield of homewares stores, although they also sell rather expensive furniture, oddly enough. For me, as someone who wants affordable things that are just a little more interesting than IKEA, Thomas Gannan is a hit.
