Really like this place. Great selection of drinks and personnel. Need to add some more variety to tonic waters.

Good place for a cheeky 6 pack or bottle of wine on your way to a Fitzroy house party. They are surprisingly cheap(carlsburg 6 packs were on sale for $ 14!) and have a nice range of imported and craft beers — really something to suit everyone. The staff really don’t care that much and who can blame them because they get a lot of crazy customers being on smith st but whoever orders their stock knows their stuff! Fast and convienient

Smith Street Cellars may not be the biggest bottle shop I’ve seen, but it makes the most of catering to most needs, with a good selection of beers ciders and wines. Sure there’s still the cheap stuff, and the longneck range isn’t that great, but there’s still some great finds for pretty good cash monies. A four pack of mountain goat in cans is $ 16. otherwise the pricing is average for Melbourne. They stock an interesting range of lesser known and boutique products. Given the area and location, I’m sure it attracts all kinds of attention, but usually seems to be okay. Even with their extended opening hours until 10pm, which is really quite handy. All in all, probably the best destination in the near by area, if you’re needing to pick up some byo alcohol for an event, or want a traveller.

I really like that the staff at Smith Street Cellars all seem to be so opinionated when it comes to booze. Not in an obnoxious way, but out of genuine enthusiasm. On a couple of occasions I’ve been chatting with a staff member and he’s suggested that I rethink my beer selection, and having followed his suggestion, I’ve been impressed on both occasions. It’s clear that the staff are all quite passionate about alcohol(not booze-hounds, but connoisseurs if you will), and it really makes it worth while to shop there, as opposed to the stock-standard service that you’ll get at the Woolworths just down the road.

If you’re after great service then pop into Smith Street Cellars. All of the staff are friendly and knowledgeable so if you have any questions, they’ll be able to sort it out for you, quick smart. With a wide variety of wines and beers, you’re sure to get what you’re after. They also sell O’Brien’s Gluten Free beer which is nice for the intolerant to know. Something I really like is they stock a number of organic and bio-dynamic wines(there’s something less severe about those hangovers). They always have something interesting to say about the alcohol they keep and have regular tastings to enjoy. I love this place, super friendly and super helpful.

A) The closest place that sells smokes when you run out while drinking at The Union. B) The closest bottle shop to Coconut Palms when you need something to BYO. C) A good range of long-necks. D) Why would there need to be a D?

This ain’t your grocery store liquor aisle, this is more like a cellar door experience right here on Smith Street. They guys that work here really know(and love) their beer and wine. They find rare batches, they bring in seasonal flavors, and they each handle a section of the store(and almost fight each other for space to show off their selections). They even have(almost) weekly tastings. It kinda makes the perfect Friday arvo spot to stop on the way home from work. You know you want some new wine or beer for dinner, or for your friends coming over(sharing IS caring), so swing by, have a tasting of whatever is new this season, and then grab what you need(want) to take home. It just makes it even more interesting, and a part of the neighborhood, that they have an ever-changing display in their front windows. Always something a bit creative for the newest beer they have in stock. So cheeky.
