I was dining with a group of people that I had never met before & sadly the live music that we were there to see was perhaps at times a little too loud to allow for good conversation. However that said we all agreed that the food was delicious, in the $$$ price bracket but you get what you pay for. I had a small bite to start with of golden fried cauliflower, surprisingly tasty with a mayonnaise based dip. Dining companions shared the antipasto which they easily devoured. For main course I had the vegetarian pizza… ginormous in proportions & not surprisingly I wasn’t able to finish it but I loved every mouthful. One dining companion was of Italian origin & sampled the pesto fettucine, which he thought was superb!!! Personally too full for a dessert but I might just go back for the tiramisu alone after seeing the portion size of the panna cotta!!! Thursday was a busy night(full house) & service was a little slow to begin with but the waiting staff were ultimately very attentive & able to make useful recommendations about the food & wine. I will definitely be heading back :)

Because there were no recent reviews and we gambled on the old ones I don’t mind confirming that a proper tasty dish awaits. Obviously if pasta based options are what you are craving this warrants the visit here. With so many average or below average Italian options around the inner north it’s nice to finally have a reliable Italian go to spot to include as a local fave.

Mamma Vittoria’s sell delicious home-made fresh pasta. If you’re entertaining and planning on serving pasta, it’s definitely worth going the extra mile to get Mamma Vittoria’s. A particularly good aspect of the service at Mamma Vittoria’s is the fact that they always take the time to tell you precisely how to cook the pasta(such as ideal water temperature and cooking time). However, on a couple of occasions, I’ve found the service to be quite strange, verging on snappy — like they would prefer to not have to deal with customers. In any case, I can deal with being occasionally snapped at if it means I can eat pasta this good. Make sure to try their raviolis particularly! Not particularly cheap, but worth every cent!

I am pretty sure most people walk past this place without giving it a second glance. Well they would be doing themselves a big disservice. Because Mamma Vittoria serves up some of the best freshly made pasta(as in the pasta as well as the sauce have just been made) this side of Venice. The food is absolutely delicious and is very reasonable — even if they don’t actually seem to have any set price to their menu. They also do freshly made sandwiches of the highest standard. But my advice is go there for a bowl of pasta — which is almost big enough for two. You will be given a few slices of freshly baked bread, a bowl of pasta and as much Parmesan cheese as you’d like. All it will cost you is about $ 7-$ 9. Oh and finally make sure you buy some of their fresh pasta to take home with you so you can try and replicate the delectable dish you have just devoured. Don’t worry you will be back tomorrow when you realise this just isn’t possible.

Mamma Vittoria’s is nothing less than a Smith Street Italian institution, serving a mixture of cold sandwiches and ever-changing hot pastas to a ravenous and adoring crowd. A word of advice: don’t opt for one of Mamma Vittoria’s lunchtime medleys of pasta and salad unless you’re über hungry. Madam Vittoria’s portion sizes are hugely generous and her pastas so utterly, deliciously, stupendously moreish you won’t be able to stop. Last time I visited Mamma Vittoria’s I chose a mixture of three warm dishes — from memory some kind of hearty ravioli, a creamy spaghetti concoction and some risotto — which were served with an antipasti laden salad; came in at roughly $ 10 and left me so full I could barely move for the rest of the afternoon. Yes, a meal at Mamma Vittoria’s is prone to filling you up for a good day or so, so avoid if you’re only marginally peckish or are on some kind of de rigeur low GI kick. Otherwise, Mamma Vittoria’s is an awesome little Collingwood Italian that is definitely worth a visit.
