Sails On The Bay

Went here for my uncle’s birthday. On entering, the venue seemed very minimalistic, and ‘sterile’; white walls, cement floors and walking out into the main dining area, floor to ceiling windows overlooks the beach and bay.
The menu is ‘fancy’ not your typical beach fare, and certainly with prices to match. Meals delivered relatively promptly and typical of modern cuisine, plates were 3 times the size of the portion served.
Flavoursome, and well presented, especially the desserts; it was a reasonable afternoon.
Sails does lack some pizazz. Would I return? Not really as there was nothing really that I couldn’t experience elsewhere.
The dark haired waitress offered excellent and friendly service.
Being given a latte in a chipped glass was not the best way to finish the day though.

We went here for a Christmas party this year and I was super excited to go because of the location right on the beach. The day was a dreary rainy day but luckily just as the sunset was due to come out.
The service wasn’t the best and I was quite surprised that a few of the staff didn’t even seem to speak much English.
I had soup, chicken and a brownie dessert and I can say that the food was OK. OK meaning the soup was delicious, the chicken was a bit dry but the purée carrot and the potato that was with it was good and the brownie dessert was to die for. I’m a big fan of chocolate and this dessert was heaven!
Since we were with a big group, I have to admit that some of the dryness of the food etc might have been due to that and the fact that they wanted all the meals out at the same time so I’m definitely looking forward to going in and trying the place again to see if it’s any better in smaller groups.

With a location like this the service and menu does not match. My Folks go here every week and we do not look forward to joining them. Eggs are always overcooked and coffee is frequently burnt. The service is surly and unkept like the staff.
