I was invited with some other bloggers to try the food here. I don’t normally attend events as I prefer to pay and speak my mind however there was no pressure here at all, and I loved the food. I always complain about the lack of good Malaysian food in Perth but there were really good flavours. I got chatting to the owners and they are such lovely people, who are really keen to hear feedback. They are fully aware of the Malaysians criticising their food for not being hot enough with chilli, however I have to say — I can see that this would put off a lot of their customers and they ARE a business. A lot of Perth people don’t like their food unnecessarily spicy and so these guys seem to cater to both — if you like it hot, they offer free sambal. As much as you want! I found the flavours to be well balanced and tasty, as I love good Malaysian food. It’s not quite the fishy, pungent flavours you get on the street there but a more refined and delicate approach. I think all of the staff are lovely and accommodating, and I did eat here one other time where the same service standards applied. I really think the presentation is lovely too. I have heard it criticised for being too pricey but this is very much in line with the nicer Malaysian places in Perth, and not the cheaper venues with a street style food and less care in their furnishings. They also have some lovely desserts — including some beauties with tropical Asian fruits like Durian!

Don’t bother. The food is average and the price is very expensive. You’re better off eating at many of the other better nasi lemak places in town!

This is my third time to Nasi Lemak and the and each time I’ve been impressed with the food — it’s authentic, delicious and reasonably priced. This time we had the fish curry, beef rendang and satay and all were delicious! The staff were really helpful, friendly and really attentive. A great trendy little gem — this will definitely be coming back again soon!

Not sure why all of the average reviews, this place is great. Went here for an early dinner on Sunday. We were promptly seated & offered water. We ordered the roti, a Nasi lemak & the chicken Sambal to share. All the food was fresh & delicious! So nice to find something different from all the average curries in Perth. Special mention to the waiter who gave us great service with a smile.

Loved the food and service. I went there last week to pick up lunch for my self and a couple of staff members. After reading good reviews we thought of giving this place a try. We are all Malaysian food lovers and we were not disappointed. From the moment the order was taken by a lovely young lady to the delivery of food it was a great experience. We ordered the sasame fish salad, Nasi kuning, sambal ayam and beef rendang. We were in heaven. Lucky it was a slow day at work as we took longer than usual lunch break. Will be back soon to try more dishes

We heard so much about this place so finally we have time to come and give it a proper try. We decided to skip entrée and ordered Nasi Lemak(with ayam goreng) and Nasi Goreng as our main. The food was good, but value for $ — portion could be slightly bigger for what it’s charging. Having said that, given the atmosphere and its location, it is understandable. Now, the food: the Ikan bilis(fried fish in nasi lemak) was crunchy(the way it should be!), the sambal was very well balanced, not too spicy and full of flavour. The ayam goreng(fried chicken) was moist, and the coconut rice was lightly scented and not over powering. Overall though, they won’t be my first choice of Malaysian food. So desserts — we had the durian strudels and apam balik(peanut pancake). I feel like they really let us down. The pancake is way too thick from what it should be(it’s like the failed version of what I tried to make at home!). The Durian strudels had a subtle durian taste that won’t satisfy the real durian lover, but if you sit in the durian hater camp this would still be too strong…(Yes we have both categories presence at this dinner). My overall verdict: as a Malaysian I probably won’t be back as there are other places that offer the same quality for less, but if you only eat Malaysian food every now and then, you will enjoy it!

Went here last night… We have been to Bali and Malaysia before and this place is like stepping into a restaurant in either of these places. Very well presented and décor and ambience was a cross between a traditional family ’ warung’(very welcoming) and upmarket funky. The seating was mostly stools or these cute«tree stumps». The food was fragrant, authentic, well priced and not too large a serve(but not tiny either) After an entrée of 4 delicious homemade spring Rolls(with a very pungent dipping chilli sauce) We finally settled on our mains. My husband got their signature Nasi Lemak($ 12) He got coconut rice with sambal, anchovies, peanuts and the traditional spicy chicken($ 5 extra) You can add Beef or seafood too. The sambal is fresh and«homemade» but WARNING it’s eye watering lip numbing«I almost can’t feel my tongue» hot… my husband loves his spicy sambal and it fit the bill perfectly. They also do a few«special«dishes like Roti with accompanying sides on a weekend and a daily«blackboard«special which appears to be a small meal with an iced tea… last nights was Nasi Goreng(fried rice) with 2 small chicken satay sticks and a very refreshing iced tea… I enjoyed it immensely… The tea was freshly brewed jasmine tea with fresh lime(not a hint of a bottle or artificial flavours) Plenty of other drink options to choose from too, andv hey appeared to allow BYO wine. We where in a rush as had a meeting to go to … so we couldn’t linger longer to truly checkout the menu fully… or try a tempting dessert(and yes they had Durian on the menu). Even the restroom was worthy of a «review of sorts»… It was very clean, spacious(for a bathroom) and had a small leather topped bench in it, so you can sit and contemplate Life or maybe Breastfeed/Change Nappies. Will be returning soon I hope to check out more of the tempting offerings on the menu.

Had a casual dinner with friends here. We made a booking and service was wonderful. We ordered drinks but were asked if we needed more water if our bottle was running low, the waitresses were very attentive and alert. Love how chirpy they were too. And the chef(?) was really lovely. He went to the tables throughout the night to see how the food was going. Asked to have a slightly sweeter drink if possible and the chef did exactly that! He commented on it during our brief chat and I really appreciate it when people make the effort to connect with their customers and listen. We ordered the pasembur which is a battered soft shell crab dish. Loved the crab. That homemade sauce they serve it with? Smother the crab in that. It’s so so delicious. This dish is massive so if you’re not a big eater, this could serve two people with a side of rice. Nasi kuning(basmati infused with turmeric) is really delicious and fragrant. Tweaks wise I would’ve really loved for the salad to have some sauce. I really think maybe a fish sauce, chilli and lime would go really well. How that would work out as a whole dish I’m not sure but my first thought was how wonderful dressing would be. We also ordered the nasi lemak with beef rendang. The beef rendang had a really nice kick to it. Beef was nice and tender. Mocktails wise, my favourite would have been the green apple juice with lemongrass, fresh lemon and honey. It was so lovely and refreshing. A close second would have been the lychee ice blended with jelly and soda. I love they used coco de nata as the jelly! The sour cherry soda and fresh lime spritzer was good but I was more impressed with the other drinks. Will definitely be coming back!

Last night we got to check out Perth’s best Malaysian restaurant, they delighted us to sample their menu with all their hits including their house made roti, beef rendang and or favourite the lychee mocktail — This intimate restaurant is located a short walk from the como jetty and right next door to Jersey Jack for some high quality gelato afterwards — Choose here for your next date night, the food was fabulous and the staff are some of the best we have had in a while. The spring rolls were bang on as well!

Just casually looking for somewhere to end our day of awesomeness around Perth and randomly came across this one! I had the chili and noodle salad but asked for less chilies and they definitely accommodated! Also had the prawn fritters and aaaahhh! Sooooooo good! My friend has the nasi goreng and asked for extra spicy and one again was definitely accommodated!

The venue is nice. The waiters and waitresses are really friendly. The tables are very small and the food took a really long time to come out considering how small the place is. It would be better if they had the self ordering slip service like alot of other malaysian food restaurants aswell because it took us 30minutes to get the attention of the staff to order our food. The Food is nice but would of been better if it came out faster.

Having arrived from Europe, I wanted my first meal back to be spicy, asian, and flavoursome but nasi lemak corner must have changed chefs or had a bad hair day today as their food was below par. My friend and I arrived at 2.30pm and asked to sit inside on a larger table. Despite not being busy as it was past lunch time, we were forced to sit outside on a small table. Then the waitress took around 20 minutes to take our order and took the orders of three grou ps hat arrived after us before ours. Having fallen sick on the plane, I asked her if I could have the green apple with honey lemon mocktail(believing that the honey and lemon would be good for my throat) without ice. The waitress refused and after much discussion and being told to speak to the chef she said it won’t taste good but I could have it if I wanted. We ordered the beef rendang, roti canai, and nasi goreng to share. The nasi goreng and beef rendang arrived first and no share plates were provided. When asked for plates, we were given two rectangular plates that looked like the ones you serve scallops or sushi in(you can only fit 3 scallops on one). No cutlery was provided and the waitress had disappeared. After swiping cutlery from the nearby table I greedily dug into the nasi goreng, dropping most of it on the table due to the plate being tiny. Firstly, it didn’t taste like nasi goreng. Secondly, the chef had gone overboard with the salt. Having just been to Italy where everything is already salty including the pizza dough but still retains flavours, I was amazed that at a restaurant I had been served food that was oversalted and as such the subtle flavours could not be experienced. Oh and the sambal was sweet. Why? Then the roti arrived with dhaal. The rotis were smaller than the roti you see at any Indonesian restaurant. Basically less than half the size. The Dhaal was cold and tasted sickly sweet. My friend described it as tasting plasticky. The beef rendang was also salted lavishly. My green apple juice with lemongrass, honey and lemon tasted great. But the food — shocking!

This isn’t my normal kind of lunch destination — we were originally supposed to go to Gami! — but my friend had a meeting to get to so we agreed to meet close to her office and this was her choice. I chose the nasi lemak with sambal ayam(chicken cooked in a «tasty spicy gravy» served with coconut flavoured rice, egg, fried peanuts and anchovies) which I found to be pleasant, the chicken had a reasonable amount of heat but was a little dry in places. Certainly a decently sized serving. My friend had the mee goreng mamak(penang style fried noodles with prawns, dried squid strips, chive fritters, egg and potatoes) — unfortunately the prawns in the dish were practically raw so she sent it back, but they came back to her still uncooked. Not a good experience and neither of us will be returning, unfortunately.

I stumbled across this place by accident when my back was sore and I was walking into My Chiro right across the street. Being a Malaysian, the name obviously caught my eye and that registered straight down to my tummy. It started grumbling. After cracking my bones at the chiro, we popped by the restaurant despite getting bad reviews from Unilocalers. I ordered Nasi Lemak with lemongrass prawn. I was craving for fried chicken, but all they served was fried chicken breast, I’m not a fan of(chicken) breasts. So lemongrass prawn it is! Teh tarik came first, and it hit home rightaway at the first sip. Then my nasi lemak came, then my vegetarian partner’s mixed vegi korma(served with yellow rice) came. And my little bubba’s roti telur came. I have no complaints with the food! Sambal was not burning hot, but it was adequate for my taste. Really love the korma, it was delish! Roti telur was alright, not the best, but it was OK. I’d definitely come here again after my chiro appointment. Will probably try their Nasi tomato next!

So we got there about 8pm and were seated very quickly. Atmosphere was nice. A little too dim lighting for my liking but it was very clean. Ordered rendang, assam fish, 2 x nasi lemak with sambal chicken and lemongrass prawns. Had 3 teh tarik. The dishes came out rather slow considering all the food we ordered is precooked anyway. The food was luke warm at best. The rice was disgraceful. So dry and bland. When i told the wait staff about the rice being dry and horrible, her response was they knew about it and they were using different rice tonight as they ran out yesterday. Mind you this is on a tuesday evening and stores were open all day. They used fish fillets in the assam fish and it wasn’t nice at all. You couldn’t tell what was meat in the beef rendang. The lemongrass prawns were dry and over cooked. Anyway food was over priced and definitely not worth driving to como for. The taste was mediocre and non reminiscent of the food back home. Won’t be returning and i don’t recommend this restaurant if you are looking for authentic malaysian/indonesian cuisine. Oh and there are red flags when a business doesn’t sell roti during the week. This should be their top seller. Plus for my dad(retired chef) to say he prefered a Hungry Jack’s burger over this food is really telling you something.

I was excited to try Nasi Lemak Corner after seeing all the pics on Instagram. I can’t eat nasi lemak because of food allergies but my partner loves it and was eager to go too. I read someone’s review which claimed their meal wasn’t hot enough — as in, not enough chilli. I would have to disagree. I absolutely love chilli and I’m not afraid to ask for more. My motto is, if my mouth isn’t burning it’s not hot enough! I ordered the beef rendang and it definitely had heat to it. The beef was mostly tender and the flavours were spot on. My partner had the nasi lemak with beef rendang and he agreed it was hot enough too. We shared the durian strudel for dessert. It was a lot of puff pastry and little durian and it was difficult to eat because the pastry kept falling apart. It was served with vanilla ice cream and a thin sauce, I think coffee maybe… On the top. The service was super fast. Given we had a 6.30 booking and arrived a bit early, so it was quiet but our meals arrived after about 5 minutes of ordering. It did get busier as we finished and it was a bit of a longer wait between our plates being cleared and ordering dessert. I’m happy with the rendang and service and would try it again :)

Sampled this new place last weekend. Fresh and new in Como. The sambal that came with the nasi lemak might probably be the best I had in Perth so far. Not too spicy but packed with authentic flavours. Their fried chicken and sambal ayam were scrumptious but not sure about the serving size. Not quite consistent. Some tables had bigger chicken some didn’t. Their desserts are pretty cool. Serving authentic Malaysian desserts but with their own twist like sago Melaka with brownie crumps and icecream & durian strudel which was light and puffy. Unfortunately the strudel had minimal amount of durian/and not enough to make the hero of the dish. Also my rice wasn’t fragrant enough/would prefer it a tad warmer and coconuty considering it’s a nasi lemak joint they should be on point. Overall I think it’s a good start considering it’s only their first week. Will definitely visit again :)
