BEWARE: the customer service is TERRIBLE! I recently moved to Fitzroy and needed a few silk blouses dry cleaned. This was the closest dry cleaner near me so I decided to give it a try. At first glance, the pricing and turnaround time seemed decent. There is a sign on the counter stating«please inspect clothes,» so I made sure to do so. I was disappointed to realize there were visible stains on more than one of my blouses. I politely asked the man at the counter about these and he immediately got angry. Furthermore, he started shouting at me and went on a rant telling me I should«take better care of my clothes.» I was speechless. The stain was from a few drops of soda water that had dribbled on a white shirt. I have never had such bad customer service in my life! In the past, I have had dry cleaners atleast act apologetic for any remaining stains after cleaning… Not the case here. I paid for my shirts and bolted out of there. Additional note: I took the same blouse to another dry cleaner and they were able remove the stain without any complaints. I recommend you SAVEYOURTIMEANDMONEY and try a different dry cleaner.

I used Metcher’s to dry clean 3 shirts while staying in Fitzroy for Cup Week. It was straight across the road from where I was staying so it was a matter of convenience rather than reputation. My shirts came back to me clean and unscathed by the dry cleaning process, but at $ 5 a shirt I want them smelling like the finest French eau de cologne as well! Just sayin.

They have a wide range of services including punching holes in belts. They’ve got your doona and sleeping bags cleaning covered, as well alterations. The early opening hours can be convenient except that Smith Street in mornings is a clear zone so no parking out the front of the shop. Also it’s cash only which is always pain when you are paying for a lot of dry cleaning
