My favorite barcade in Australia. The place is very well decorated and they have a well selected set of video games. I wish they had better wine options.

Awesome little bar filled with 80s video games. Super friendly staff. Only complaint is there’s no Pacman haha.

Arcade games from the 80s and 90s are a wonderful thing. There are no prizes involved, you don’t have to dance around to play them, and most of the time there is room on them to rest your beer. Unfortunately they never served beer at Timezone, so luckily Forgotten Worlds is here to pick up the slack. Tucked away on a quiet strip of Johnston st, there is plenty here to love. Firstly, the games. So many people walk in here and excitedly rush to a game they remember fro years ago. Most of them can be played for less than $ 1 and there’s even a free machine up the back with Frogger, Dig Dug and all the old classics on it. There are some great craft beers on offer here too, both local and imported. There are no taps, but that just makes it easier to pop your can or bottle onto the deck of an arcade game and play away. The food options are limited here, but all tasty anyway. There is a small selection of sandwiches on offer, such as sloppy joes and a mock duck burger for the vego’s and all for under $ 10 too! The décor here is like stepping into your nanna’s living room, with couches that are far too squishy and lamps that are far too tacky. There’s plenty of old National Geographic magazines and Burke’s Backyard books to read too! The staff here are friendly, helpful and always ready for a chat, which all makes Forgotten Worlds one of my favourite new places to hang out at.

I have just found my new favourite bar. This little gem has been only open for a month, and I just kick myself its taken this long to find it! If you like old school video games, rad craft beer and an awesome retro feel… this bar is for you. How can you pass that up? Tucked away at the Wellington st end of Johnston street when you first walk in to forgotten worlds, there is a pretty mural on the wall of a forest type seen and immediately you feel you are going into another world. Lining the walls are old video arcade games — simpsons, mortal kombat, street fighter to name a few. They are priced anywhere from 40 cents to $ 1 and you can get change at the bar. They even give it to you in cute little paper baggies of 20 cent pieces. They have cool retro things decorating the place including old pay phones, answering machines and dial phones. We headed to the bar to get a drink and I must say they have an amazing selection of both Australian and craft beer which is reasonably priced. They have Brooklyn lager and EIPA cans for $ 9, Anchor brewing steam ale and liberty ale and the new Sixpoint cans. Makes chosing very hard. We were greeted at the bar by May(I think that was her name) and she was lovely and friendly. She recommended me a beer and was spot on in her recommendation. We spent the next few hours playing games and chatting. They have a few areas where you can sit down and chat and also an outdoor area. They offer limited food, which I have heard is pretty delicious. Even a vegetarian/vegan option… vegan duck. We wasted away a good 4 hours here and had an absolute blast. Just a really cool chill out place to catch up with friends and take you back to the games you used to love as kids. That said I still suck at them and have no idea what i’m doing. My theory just keep hitting buttons until you win!
