Came here for a burger, came back with a gut. This burger is fresh, messy, and made to order. Not much to fault here, but it’s more of a classic Aussie takeaway place that gets the job done. Be prepared to use a lot of napkins… and FYI the servings of chips are enormous.

This place is truly local and truly delicious. In fact it’s an eastern suburbs institution. If you haven’t had an out of the blue burger and chips then something’s wrong with you! So let’s get down to it — firstly the chips. Remember the days when you used to get hot chips wrapped up in paper? Yep they still do that here and I love it. The chips are crispy, hot and sprinkled with chicken salt. As for the burgers, the chicken burger is a classic and that’s the one all my friends go for. I’ve tried the veggie burger and was thoroughly impressed with the size — she’s no joke! Soft chewy breadroll type bun, lettuce, beetroot, carrot, huge veggie patty, sauce… It’s good. Take your burger and chips, drive to clovelly car park and have a feed whilst looking at the ocean. Perfect!

A loooooong wait for take away for this place, but I think that is just by virtue of it’s popularity. After the dozen or so burgers before us(chicken seems to be the pick) we received our grilled fish and chips + salad. I like that you have a choice of marinades for your fish — soy and chilli was the winner for me. THe portions are well sized and the chips crunchy — could def use some salt though. And it’s only a short walk down to Clovelly Beach(«beach») for a fish and chip-nic.

A friend of a friend(AKA the world’s most reliable source) reckons this place is the business, the down dirty boss hog business, when it comes to burgers. Yeah it’s a fish and chipper, but why the hell not be known for burgy wurgys? Everyone else is doing it. I’m looking at you, Neil Perry, and you too, Mary, if in fact you are a real and legitimate woman and can thus be looked at, not merely thought about like some kind of ephemeral and poorly-defined concept. I don’t like being told what to do, however, so instead of a burger I got hot chips, the largest they had, a giant, newspaper-wrapped bundle of them with air holes poked in it that I had to slug under my arm like a football, pushing people out of the way(there are lots of people, it was a Saturday and the joint was rammed) to get to our car, where we opened that sucker up like a, well, like a newspaper I guess, and lo! There lay the greatest treasure trove of chicken-salt-sprinkled hot totties I’ve laid eyes on in many a year, so many we couldn’t possibly finish them, couldn’t even get halfway through them in fact, but failure never tasted so good, especially with a tub of their signature chilli mayo as an accoutrement for dunkin’ good times. Should probably be named Into The Blue instead of Out Of The Blue because it’s more sea-related, but hey, it was a surprise to me, so perhaps Out Of The Blue works better.

This place is just a take a way joint so don’t expect anything else and be prepare to wait for you order about 20 mins. But is so worth it. I need to come back and check they fish and chips deals too. Cheap and yummy!

The burgers here are always cold — not recommended. Fish and chips are just okay.

Hands down the best takeaway burger in the Eastern Suburbs. On a weekend you will see people lining up out of the shop for a Chicken/Merquez/Scotch Fillet/Ham Burger which is funny considering its a Fish and Chips shop; but nonetheless! Always a good idea to phone ahead if its going to be busy so you don’t have to wait half an hour for your order.
