Queens Parade Hardware is the Inner North’s answer to Bunnings Warehouse. They may not claim to beat any price by 5% or have as large a range. But this place does sell everything, from building supplies, electronics, tools, painting supplies, DIY material, nursery plants, and garden supplies. I wouldn’t say that they have an amazing range of any of the above supplies. But the chances are they do have what you require. This is my go to place for any kind of tool or material I may need to fix something around the house, and I even buy some of my gardening supplies here, because some stuff they sell is slightly cheaper than your average nursery.

Like hardware? You’ll love this shop. Also have a soft spot for gardening centres? Queens Parade Hardware will knock your DIY socks off and make your green fingers even more verdant. Big claims I know but Queens Parade Hardware, a strange conflation of a large hardware store and a small gardening centre, stocks everything from paints to compost, screws to chrysanthemums and much more in between. Ok, it’s a little pricier than buying your plants, pots and compost from the nearest Kmart but the range of gardening supplies on offer is also far better and you can stock up on DIY essentials while you’re there. I’ve bought more than the occasional thing from this hugely prosaic if handy Clifton Hill shop, and staff are as knowledgable about which paint to use to revive old furniture as they are about fertiliser varieties and the like. A great place to have in your little DIY black book.
