Fowler’s flowers specialise in that classic sense of whimsy: flowers in jam jars and glass containers your grandmother would have put sweets in. Not typical of what you get from usual florists, it’s nice to know where you can go to get something different. Once inside, you’ll see what I mean, they don’t sell the typical flower arrangements — it’s great! They have a wall of pre-cut flowers and they’ll very skilfully put something together for you or with you. I bought some beautiful potted tulips here and a gorgeous card. That’s another thing; they have some lovely cards and amazing hanging vases. It’s a good place to get presents for people that are fresh and a side step from a typical present or thank-you. They also sell heaps of different vegie seeds too which is handy if you like growing your own. Fowlers are great at putting a new twist on a predictable present.

Located on Queens parade next to Merri Creek trail, this isn’t your standard«Gerberas stuffed into foam» florist. This shop is so beautifully quaint as the cutesy name suggests, Fowlers specialise in unique, contemporary flower arrangements and have a commitment to offering unusual species with a low carbon footprint. There is a strong industrial element to the shop, stark white walls, timber, exposed brick and pressed iron detail that provides an attractive juxtaposition against the natural colour, beauty and curves of the flora. Vases are fashioned from old medicine bottles, jars, jugs and vintage ceramics. Fowlers is also able to create unique arrangements for weddings and events as well as offering selection of organic herb and vegetable seeds for avid green thumbs. A sweet little bouquet will set you back just under $ 10.
