Fantastic fitness centre in a nice park setting complete with pool and gym. Usually has space in the lap lanes, and the aqua play area and kids’ classes are well put together. Can be a challenge finding changing space.

I predominately use the pool at the Leisure Centre and have always been a fan of their facilities. Having recently undergone an upgrade, the centre is looking fresh faced. The complex comprises of one 25m indoor pool which usually has 4 – 6 lanes available for swimming. Otherwise, they have a couple of lanes for ‘aqua play’ and a big children’s pool. There is also a well equipped gym and they have regular Les Mills classes. My only criticism is that the change rooms weren’t made any bigger during the renovation. They can get super busy as they are for both pool and gym patrons.

I am a member of the Yarra Leisure Centres(Collingwood, Richmond and Fitzroy). You automatically get membership to all three centres when you join. Each has its own benefits. I primarily go for the pool and the Les Mills classes. Fitzroy — great outdoor 50m pool. Awesome atmosphere in summer, they even have DJs playing on Sunday afternoons during the summer months. We call it the«Fitzroy beach» because the vibe is so chill, and everyone comes out to play! Collingwood — new 50m indoor pool, and good group exercise class facilities. Richmond — the best and largest gym of the three. Good indoor 50m pool, with hot tubs, sauna and steam rooms. Most group exercise is in a great upstairs studio space. But beware classes held in the crèche area, it’s small and cramped, with no mirrors. I’m a big fan, love the flexibility of going to each centre and the Les Mills instructors are great.
