It’s always a question of where to go for Breakfast in Chatswood if you don’t want to wait at Houlihans on a Saturday, so thought to try Kingston & Co to see how we’d go. Was quiet when we first got there at 9 am but by the time we left the place was buzzing. Service was a bit slow, and when we came to order a few things weren’t on the menu that we wanted(which is fine if we had been told earlier, such as when we were being given the menus) Coffee was average. Their teas are pretty good and the food was actually alright! Got a croissant with ham and cheese which you can’t really go wrong with but my friends had the poached eggs with toast, and the pancakes with bananas which they all enjoyed.

If you ever go to Chatswood, you know that there are 100s of new places, and it is now bursting at the seems with cafes and good coffee. And Kingston is not one of those places. Everything here is average, and if it wasn’t for all the other places, this place would probably be good — but its not. Especially with Elbow Room around the corner, which has better coffee and food. Firstly, the coffee was over brewed, and burnt. But not only that I had to wait a seriously long time for my burnt coffee. I personally don’t mind waiting for coffee if it is good, but this was not. And my cup was not the only cup, the other coffees that were ordered were also over brewed. Further the staff here are quite unattentive, and seem to hate their existence.

I came across this place by chance, as my usual place had closed for the afternoon. I have since switched cafes and now come here twice a day for my caffeine fix. The owner/barista makes a fantastic flat white — smooth, creamy, consistent. The other baristas have made pretty good coffees too — not as good as the owner, but still pretty superior and more importantly, fairly consistent. The coffee you get here far exceeds any other coffee in Chatswood(though Houlihan’s are pretty good too). I haven’t tried their food yet(apart from sampling the freebie pastries and muffins they offer out the front — the passionfruit friand and chocolate brownie are both delicious). If you appreciate quality coffee, then I recommend you try this place.
