Carlton Arts Centre Pottery School

I think it was the movie Ghost which made working with clay so popular. If you have an interest in pottery, then the Carlton Arts Centre provides friendly, relaxed classes that’ll teach you the art of wheeling or hand sculpturing your very own ceramics.
There’s even an annual exhibition where you’ll get the chance to display your work and hopefully even make a sale or two.

Reason #478 why I love Melbourne: There is a school dedicated to the art of pottery and classes available for beginners, intermediate and those very special advanced students.
I’m always up for trying something new and different and I had always walked past the Carlton Arts centre with a mixture of the giggles and of intrigue — who were these people sitting behind the potter’s wheel? How could I join in and get as dirty as they were?! Needless to say, a lot of fun was had at my first class.
I, in no way, consider myself an artist but that’s what makes this place so much fun! There are a mixture of students — some just as crap as you are and others who a renowned artists.
I would definitely check this place out if you are looking to try something a little different.

Ever pictured yourself as Demi Moore in ‘Ghost’ with the Potter’s Wheel, Patrick Swayze’s ghost lingering behind you… Yeah, neither have i but at Carlton Arts you can pick up some skills on using the Pottwer’s Wheel.
At Carlton Arts, they have classes for Beginners, Intermediate and Advanced individuals so get out there and give it a go, it’s actually a lot of fun.
I attended some classes and have to say i was over joyed with the experienced (i giggled a lot). At first it’s hard to pick up the method of sculpting, but as your mum always said; «Practice makes perfect».
