Disappointing Linguine di Mare for $ 30, I should order the what Julia ordered fromt he Breakfast menu … $ 8 House Sauv Blanc is OK. Great service for our big group, big open space interior, classic diner.

Arrive 9:02am Sunday doors locked staff member opened no greeting and must be a mime artist in training no conversation as water and menus handed out and ambience ruined dragging out outdoor settings! Think they would have all that set up pre 9am hence we just had coffee I don’t like a good Sunday ruined with set up noise and unfriendly staff!

When i think of Georges I think of a trusty run of the mill café. It’s no frills, the coffee is average, but you always know what you are going to get. True there is better on offer in the area, but if you just can’t be bothered to go and queue in Prospect Espresso or suck up the prices of My Other Brother, this place is alright. The food here is also ok. I’ve tried the arancini balls, chips and dips and the turkish bread and dips and I enjoyed all of them. Melbourne has such a high standard of cuisine I think sometimes you forget that no frills is OK. I’ve definitely got time for Georges and judging by the fact it’s always full I think most people feel the same. Don’t write this place off if you are in the area, it’s worth a go.

I feel a bit sorry for Georges. They’re getting a bad rap on here and I don’t quite know why. The food isn’t going to blow you away but each time I have been I have enjoyed it. My avo on toast sat happily among my favourite in town. The coffee was average. Not bad, not great. But average. The large is stupidly large and could probably do with an extra shot to make it worthwhile. I will go back here as I find the service friendly enough and the food solid. Give it a go… I really don’t think it’s as bad as Unilocal reviews suggest.

Was a fan once upon a time but now the prices have gone up and the quality down(down down). Last time I ate at George’s I had pidè. The pidè was so oily I could have reused the oil on my plate to deep fry chips. That said, the waitress asked how our meals were and we were honest and the waitress just walked off. So it was a bad experience all round.

I’m not exactly sure why George’s is so popular — its always busy. Been there a few times now and each time I leave I think that was a rip off! Food and drinks are overpriced and it’s soooo noisy. Accommodates a lot of people but they don’t seem to have enough staff to cover. Think twice before you walk in the door …

The food and coffee is ok for breakfast or lunch. There are a lot of tables so the wait-staff are spread thin, but otherwise an enjoyable experience.

This is a venue were ‘average’ sums up the experience. I bit the bullet the other day and ventured here for a coffee with a mate, unfortunately I wasn’t impressed. The service was close to woeful — not only did they seem incapable of serving and waiting on tables in an efficient and considerate manner, but also they were also rather rude, and that laid back attitude that they so freely displayed? Not cool. The coffee was okay but a little bitter so after I’d added some sugar I was able to drink it down. It wasn’t that busy either so I don’t understand why the barista couldn’t have taken the time to work on the coffee and improve the blend and their skills. I had a quick glance at the menu and didn’t really see anything that caught my eye. If you want beautiful Italian food you don’t come here — you head next door to Italy 1, easily Camberwell’s best restaurant. The prices looked high too, and if their coffee or service were any measure of what comes off the menu, I wouldn’t bother.
