Ebony Quill

I have been going to this café for the past 2 years every Friday for my coffee and cake to unwind after a working week at 6pm. I don’t know if under new management or floor staff changed but the service is bad.
They 1^st changed café closing from 7pm to 6pm and as I was earlier today I turned up at 5.40pm to be told only take away as they will be closing in 5−10mins. WTF. If this isn’t the owners direction, you better reconsider your floor staff as I’m sure I’m not the only person they have turned away.

I used to think I would rate this a solid three stars but with each passing visit that 3^rd star has been fading at a rapid rate…
Due to laziness and convenience I’ve had two coffees here this weekend — one ‘dine in’ the other take away. Both were bitter and gave me no real desire to keep drinking. Lucky the dine in cups are quite small so I managed — the take away didn’t share the same fate and went in the bin half way through.
I’ve eaten here once for breakfast and it was fine. Large serving but nothing stand out.
It was following breakfast where the 3^rd star disappeared completely thanks to a bathroom incident where either myself or one of their staff didn’t wash their hands. (Hint: it wasn’t me).

I’ve been going there for lunch with work colleagues most Fridays for the past 2 years. Their wraps and risottos are amazing. Coffee is ok. Great central location and good value meals. Friendly staff too, worth a go.

I’m basing this review on the coffee, because apart from a one off New York Cheese cake, that’s all I ever order from here.
So as far as the coffee goes, it’s good. Not had a bad one yet, and the service is friendly. They serve cakes and rolls and also have a small bar area attached.
Ebony Quill is my trustee post work out coffee joint. If you are in or near the Well in Camberwell, I recommend giving this place a go.
