If you love crabs, then Thai Treats is one you need to put on your weekday crabfeast list. Mainly because their Wednesday Crab night offers some of the best value Crabs in town and there is a variety of sauce to choose from. For about $ 24.50 you get a dish of blue swimmer of soft shell crab, cooked in their house specialty spicy gravy sauce(more sweet than spicy), deep fried with garlic and pepper, in curry sauce, chilli basil and a number more variety. I got confused looking at the Crab special menu and it might take you a few try but you will no doubt find one that suit your palate. We tried the spicy gravy(sweet with a mild chilli sauce) and the chilli mud crab($ 29.50 — spicier sauce) So you might not usually associate Crab with Thai food, if you’re like me, you probably think that a good crab is usually cooked Singaporean style. However, there is an advantage of getting your crab fix here at Thai Treats, one is the value as mentioned before, the second is that the other accompanying Thai meals for your non-Crab loving dining companion or maybe just because you like to eat a lot, the Thai food here is really good and serving size is generous. We’ve had the Green curry, Pad thai, chicken wings, chicken satay and loved them all. So back to the crabs, the only improvement I would suggest, is to ask for your crab claws to be cracked before cooking so that the sauces it is cooked in can seep into those juicy meat. other things to note, — Thai Treats cater to Halal food and this adds to their popularity amongst locals, try your best to book. –During our visit, the owner told us that she is still working on a drink menu, at the moment there are soft drinks and complimentary tea and water but hopefully all those delicious cool Thai drinks and dessert will be included too. –If you are thinking delivery, Thai treats is on menulog with some good offerings. but i strongly suggest dining in and get to know the owner whose hospitality will win you over. she will even explain her ‘spicy chart’ from Australian spicy(not very) to Thai spicy ;) Just don’t all you come at once cos I am starting to enjoy these Wed night Crab nights!
