Cute little café just off Sydney Road, which is next to a park which is good if you have young kids. It is situated in a really quaint old bluestone building, which is amazing to look at. We’ve always eaten outside, as its been nice weather so can’t comment on the inside. Have eaten here twice now for breakfast and both times it has been delicious. The service we’ve received both times has been good, but not exception. It was fast and easy, but nothing special. The serving sizes are big and they dishes have a lot of flavour. Good choice of food and sure to have something to suit everyone.

I agree with the above review, Jelly Stone is deceptive in its exterior. While it may look like a cage from the front the outdoor section lures you in and as it turns out is by far the best place to sit. Inside is compartmentalised so the ambiance suffers and the music doesn’t do much to help. Out the back feels like a crèche and is out of the question for anyone but the most ardent kid lover on a weekend. The BLT I had was great, massive and tasty to boot but the pancakes looked(and I’m told tasted) sensational. Food envy! Jelly Stone has the feel of the corporate businessman’s ‘Brunswick café’ a little too sterile for my taste but the food and coffee were good.

Pinching their name from Yogi Bear gives it a strangely comical and old school feel, but this all falls away when you find the place. Stone fence courtyard with intense iron bars look a little like a cage, but once inside the walls you don’t really notice it. The place has the familiar deceptive feel of many places in Brunswick — the shabby exterior hides a well-renovated interior, with polished floors and warmth inside. Radio plays top forty and you have three choices of seating — outside, inside or different in/out towards the back that includes a sand pit for the kids. Coffee is good, available for takeaway, and the menu is good — BLT is a winner. With nice staff who on the odd occasion forget a drink the place offers a place to eat in whatever weather.
