If you need something and everything else is closed then maybe this is the place for you. However if there is any other place you can try, then try there first. Yes, this is not a good review. there is not that much that is good to say about Lygon(in)Convenience. Other have noted the only good points: the ATM and the dubious internet access. It at a tram stop so you can get a coke before you head into the city. Be sure to check their prices at the register. On numerous occasions the scanned price is higher than the shelf price and when questioned, they say they ‘forgot’ to update the shelf price. In short, go somewhere else if you can.

I’m with the others here. Lygon(in)Convenience seems to overlook the obvious ‘convenience’ items and in doing so renders itself obsolete. Let’s focus on the positives and eliminate the negatives. There are two reasons this place is good, three at a stretch. 1) the Commonwealth ATM out front. As a suffering Commonwealth Bank customer, you would understand the fucking hatred you get for using another bank’s ATM at $ 2 a throw. Fuck you Commonwealth! I prize this rare gem of an ATM and will go out of my way to avoid filling you coffers any more than I must. 2) The dude who works here is a gent. He is so apologetic and seems genuinely concerned that they have nothing you require. He could be a fucker about it, but he’s not. 3) They sell cold drinks on a hot day. That is all.

There’s a Commonwealth ATM out the front, and it’s also an internet café. So far, so convenient. Yet despite appearences, Lygon Convenience suffers from a few general oversights. It doesn’t sell two litre cartons of milk, or metcards. Sure, there’s still a lot of soft drinks and bottled waters, and if you want phone credit you’re probably in luck. But no milk? Hm.

I’m not sure if Lygon Convenience has stepped up its game since I used to live around the corner. Back then it was one of the least convenient convenience stores you could imagine. No phone credit, no metcards and a small range of goods. Ahmed, the guy that ran it seemed to do the longest shifts you could possibly imagine. I’m sure it has to have stepped up its game since and the guy who runs it seems really nice. It’s a good location so should be a prime spot for a more convenient store.

Very little about this place is convenient. Think of a 7Eleven with half the produce and different prices with an Internet café tacked onto the side. It’s one saving grace for me is the cheap Ginger Beer, for those who can’t hold their breath for another ten minutes in any direction, it will have to do.
