I must have come on a bad day for the cooks. The teriyaki beef was dry and the rice was just crappy. The sushi rolls are pretty small in comparison with other cheap looking stores I have been to. The udon soup had a very subtle seafood and sweet flavour. Apart from that it was coloured water. The sushi was also very sweet for some reason. I would not stop here again, but if you are starving. It may be good. Probably try the salmon and avocado. It looked OK, though the photos of the food on the wall look really good only it did not actually mean the food was good.

I’m on a quest to find Sydney’s best sushi and thought it might be an idea to check out a local sushi chain, and boy is ‘sushi chain’ an apt description for Sushi World. Sushi World first opened in 1996 in Chatswood and now has 18 restaurants scattered throughout Australia. I think its focus is more so on takeaway, which I feel it does reasonably well. I ordered a mixed selection of prawn tempura, salmon and tuna sushi, and while I wouldn’t say it was amazing, it did leave me feeling satisfied. It was fresh, simply-presented and surprisingly cheap. The staff are friendly and there is enough seating inside to cater to the lunchtime crowds.

Not a huge fan of this place. We’ve eaten here once and the sushi is average at best. I’d recommend taking away as the eating area is stifling as it is in most shopping centres. I had a tray of a variety of options and it was OK, but you could go up a few floors and eat in at a nicer place that does a sushi train and sit down meals that seems better quality than here. Strong smell of fish from the fish seller next door dampened my enthusiasm as well. Service is quick, but we won’t be back.

I don’t know if this little place can get away with calling itself a «world.» It definitely has sushi, I will give it that. But it might be better suited calling itself«Sushi Neighborhood» or even, «Sushi Retirement Village.» The rolls are standard, but a little more expensive that most places I am used to. Chicken /Avo, Salmon /Cucumber, and Cooked Tuna are all $ 3 a piece. There are also bento boxes in a variety of different combos and sizes and they all hover around the $ 8 mark. The fish is fresh, though, so I guess it gets the job done. I would recommend this place if you’re in a hurry and want some Japanese fare on the run. It’s in a convenient location. Pick up some groceries from Coles, swing by and grab some wine at the bottle shop, and then swoop up a roll for a pre-dinner snack. You almost can’t go wrong.

This sushi place is on the ground floor in the vicinity of coles, not up in the food court. So much easier to grab some sushi if you are doing grocery shopping or walking in off the street. Those escalators take forever! The sushi here is fresh and thick. I am over sushi rolls that skimp on the rice, because its just so expensive… They have all the old faves like teriyaki chicken and fresh salmon. Stock is replenished through the day so you aren’t eating old product at the end of the day. There are a few tables/sushi bar to eat at, but this is a place to eat and go, not enjoy a leisurely meal.
