Kind and unassuming waitstaff and menu. The menu is on the humble side in its description but includes excellent options as well as a design-your-own eggs on toast, which is what I opted for. The poached eggs were well prepared and the toasted toast had a nice crisp. The avocado and tomato rounded out the flavor. The double espresso macchiato was nice and smooth, not bitter. Lastly, the house made berry muffins were the perfect mix of fluffy and dense, especially when toasted. They also weren’t oily like so many mass-produced muffins are. Highly recommend.

Called in here for a coffee on a Friday afternoon after a long trip in the car to get to Brisbane. The entire group were all happy with their coffees and they were all reasonably priced. Would revisit here again in a heartbeat.

Easily one of the best coffees in Brisbane. They use Mecca beans from Sydney, which you will really appreciate if you order a short black. The food is delicious too; my favorite is the breakfast panino.

This place is my daily go-to for a great coffee in the CBD. Their coffee has definitely been the driving force behind any productivity in the working day. Great coffee, great staff and the food I’ve had has also been up to par. The muffins are ridiculously good. Thanks to Seb and the staff for helping me get through the day!

Ever since our office moved to the city, I’m on the hunt for good lunchtime spots to enjoy with my co-workers and friends. Upon a recommendation from El Patron, we came here for a quick bite, coffee and work talk. Our sandwiches were delicious, mine a ploughman-style multigrain bread stacked with bacon, olives, lettuce, tomato, and mayo, and El Patron’s, a fork and knife Croque Monsieur with a cornichon on top. The coffee on the other hand, was an absolute disaster, but bless their heart for taking it back to try to fix it. My soy latte arrived broken and separated from the coffee, and not knowing what the culprint was, I suggested they remake it with less acidic beans. When the second arrived quite the same way, I just shut my mouth and gulped it down as I couldn’t be bothered to be a diva in front of my boss. In all, I would go back in a second for the food, but either stick to one of their delicious looking smoothies or milk-based coffees this time around.

Pourboy is not a place you go for a relaxing watch-the-world-go-by kind of café experience. It is in the heart of corporat-landia of Brisbane and as such the clientele are either ordering take-aways that can’t come quickly enough to get them back to their cubicle or are having business meetings talking about business meetings while sipping their coffees, eating made on-site buttermilk muffins or the ridiculously decadent raspberry and banana bread I enjoyed while here for a meeting this week. It’s a good option if you need a meeting point at this end of town and their brews are fairly decent. There’s a solid breakfast and lunch menu but on this occasion I can only speak for their coffee and banana bread.

Went here on a recommendation from an outstanding coffee place in Adelaide and wasn’t disappointed. Don’t let the fact that this place is at the base of an office building deter — they’re making some good black and white coffees here. When I went they were using Mecca roasted beans(Sydney roaster). I ordered a filter, an Ethiopian — I forget the specifics to be honest. Was extracted really well and my second best filter coffee over the course of the week I spent in and around Brisbane. My wife had a latte which was delivered in a trough — the cup would have been at least 350ml. Too big. Texturing was good, was too weak through the overdose of milk. Being in casual clothes I definitely stood out here in the middle of the morning. Every other person was in business attire. They have to turn a profit and having peeps from offices nearby meet, greet and enjoy good coffee here is a great way to guarantee that. But… I just can’t help feel what could have been had this been in a quieter, warmer space. It’s obvious they know their specialty coffee here, it’s just not at the forefront of what Pourboy is all about and thats a shame.

One of my favourite places for espresso coffee. The last flat white that I had there was reminiscent of chocolate and praline. It was a smooth cup that was rich and coffee sweet from the combination of a well extracted shot and beautifully textured milk. I have also been very satisfied with the filter coffee beans they sell for my home setup. The last few have been absolutely mindblowing COE coffees. The funny thing is that most of their customers don’t realise this, and probably prefer a 12oz flat white with 1 or the infamous ‘Larday’. :|

Best coffee I’ve had in a long time. Large coffee cups are massive — perhaps too large. Good selection of simple, yummy lunches. I’ve just started working around the corner and I think I will be a regular.

There’s nothing more satisfying than licking off a creamy, coffee moustache. Especially when that coffee is beautifully sweet and smooth. That’s what you get when you visit Pourboy Espresso on the corner of Wharf & Adelaide streets in the heart of the CBD. Not only do they pour out a killer coffee, they have incredibly friendly service as well. Upon climbing the stairs, my waitress told me to take a seat and she’d come and look after me. Delivering a glass of water and sussing out that I was a solo lunch-goer, she advised me that there were a selection of magazines and papers to read. She promptly took my order and in a matter of minutes, the aforementioned sumptuous coffee arrived. To say I was content is a massive understatement. A couple of minutes’ later, the Ploughman’s arrived. And gosh it was more than just cheese and pickle on bread. Firstly, the bread was spelt grain and beautifully fresh. Secondly, there were tasty extras — ham, lettuce, Dijon mayonnaise and a wonderful, jammy pickle glaze. Thirdly, it was toasted. Delicious. What made it better? The fact that the waitress knew I would enjoy it, so she simply said ‘great sandwich isn’t it?’

I had heard wonderful things about Pourboy Espresso so last week I trudged up the other end of the CBD in need of an afternoon caffeinated re-fuel. I ordered a coffee to have there and it came out promptly. The coffee was good, and the barista undoubtedly skilled, but it wasn’t a cup I would write home about as I’d been led to believe. A quick look at their menu told me that I had definitely come at the wrong time of day. Both the breakfast and lunch menus are simple, but sounds delicious and come at reasonable price for the corporate army who own the city on a weekday. I felt as though the café lacked ambience and personality, but I can’t say whether that was perhaps because of the time of day I was there(around 2pm). Pourboy is a cool little joint, but it’s not somewhere I would spend a few hours with a book. If I was a 9am-5pm girl it might be a different story. If you work or wander around Wharf Street, have a brew at Pourboy Espresso.
