First impressions count eh? Seriously, what a feckin cool name! Totes random for the bubble too(the Brighton Bubble that is). At the time of review the café is only about two months old, but is drawing interest from locals and passers– by. Not quite cosy as you’d expect from a neighbourhood café but by George, it’s nice to have a bit of north– Yarra– esque vibes happening bayside. The menu is actually pretty simple, focusing mainly on food you can eat on the go especially catering to drive-bys in the morning work or school run. They provide table service which is nice even though it’s not heavily staffed. Having said that, service was pretty quick and the jaffle l had of mushroom, spinach and feta hit the spot this cold windy wintry morning. And the coffee will knock your socks off. Notes of coconuty, caramelly goodness… uuummm uhhh. You know when you’ve hit jackpot gold with coffee– the serving size is smaller than average. It’s actually their own house brand and 100gm bean bags are available for purchase. Beware establishments that serve up in large coffee cups — they’ve watered down the coffee with too much milk I find. How astute you say! Ambience wise, it’s totes hipster without trying to be. Pops of neon yellow– chartreuse are strikingly contrasted against whites and greys and birch timber. I can see this place attracting the younger crowds minus kids though as the seating is from stools mostly so probably not very mum-and-pram friendly. Parts of the building have been preserved to add to the charm and character– I’m a sucker for pressed tin ceilings. Quirky products and even art installations are scattered throughout the joint so it just makes you want to explore. Hence my journey right to the back where the first shot looking out towards the front was taken. There’s a courtyard too that’s north facing so on a good day, aim for the sun. Also, a bar for the singles, who when I was here, didn’t quite look ready to mingl… Stop it Ben it’s too early! I like the non– pretentiousness this place gives out. The mix of tunes played within is, yes you guessed right– superrandom mix. So if you’re randomly passing by, give this one a go.
