Food OK. Coffee OK. Prices average. Service very poor. Years ago they used to be slow. Now they are quicker but keep stuffing up. Never brought water though we requested some. Brought the wrong coffees. Then brought one and finally the second one some minutes later. Brought the wrong meals to begin with. Looks as though they could not care less if you came or not, so don’t bother.

Pretty bad. Came in on a recommendation for a quick breakfast before needing to be elsewhere. Ordered eggs benedict with ham. Instead of ham, it arrived with uncooked bacon. Obviously inedible, we alerted the staff who apologised profusely(and made mention they noticed it looked«different» coming from the kitchen), then proceeded to charge us full price! Pretty rich considering the kitchen stuffed up and we didn’t touch it.

Awful. I walked in after hearing everyone rave about this place and two girls stood around talking about explicit things, looked at me and ignored me for about 3 mins they kept going… Then I finally interrupted and asked«do I sit or order here» she genuinely said to me «sit we come to you, if we get through all the stuff we have to do» and laughed. She was cleaning glasses and the other was leaning on a bench drinking a takeaway coffee. Awful service I sat down 10 mins no one came so I walked out.

$ 14.95 for two eggs and a slice of toast. It wasn’t on the menu specifically, but we wanted something simple for breakfast. We were completely shocked when we were given the total at the counter, and were offered no explanation as to why they felt it necessary to gouge their customers. Rude staff and hugely overpriced food. Never again.

My favourite stop at Bowral! Great coffee and a very cosy setting for a winters day drive stopover. The food is always good and a unique experience in terms of layout and theme. Friendly staff.

We needed a decent coffee and my friend Maria says this is the place. I only follow a few people but Maria is one — I know these things are s’posed to be secret but truth is she is the Greekest most flamboyant cool chick on Unilocal. Coffee was perfect. Just what we needed.

The Elephant Boy Café is a must visit if you are visiting the pretty little town of Bowral. The café itself is very cute with quaint books lining all the walls and cute mini director chairs and tables throughout. The service was impeccable and genuine like you would expect from a country town. I didn’t try the coffee but my partner said it was good. I really enjoyed my mango lassi and beef pie. The pastry was cooked to perfection. In fact we loved it so much we came back again today with our friends just for a sit and some more drinks. Im sure we will be back again before we leave. Come here! You won’t regret it!

Busy Bowral on the Sunday of the Labour Day weekend, hungry and looking for lunch. Unilocal reviews guided me to the Elephant Café, and I am so glad they did. Busy, unpretentious, delicious. The only difficulty was deciding what to eat. I had the nut-roasted chicken sandwich and the boss had the pork scratchings sandwich. Will be back.

The first thing you notice about this place is the decoration — old books and elephants everywhere! But the most important thing is the coffee. This is the best coffee you will get in this area. And if you get your coffee in, then you’ll also get an elephant in your froth. The coffee was so good, that I came back here every time. The service is homey and makes you feel you’ve completely left the city behind. Very friendly and extremely helpful. The food here is good — honestly I’ve only had breakfast here so can only comment on that. But it was extremely good. I ordered the croque Monsieur, and it was well done. The sauce was particularly cheesey, and you can never have too much cheese. Definitely the place to stop by for brunch or coffee when you are in Bowral.

We always stop in to The Elephant Boy on our way to Sydney. The whole experience takes you back to the days of Agatha Christie. Old books line the walls and the staff are dressed in a way that adds to theme. Staff are friendly and attentive. The food is fresh and beautifully presented.

Great atmosphere, great food and incredible service. The owner does not stop moving and ensuring that everyone is taken care of and happy. It is really impressive how she runs her business. We chose to go here because of a recommendation from a local we met in one of the shops in town. The food was so delicious, we had to go back the next morning! For lunch we had the pork sandwich and the soup of the day. This was actually the best sandwich I have ever had. For breakfast the eggs benedict was darn good, but the highlight was the hot cocoa. Hot steamed milk served in a bowl(yes, literally a small bowl) with a spoon of chocolate to stir and melt in(don’t forget to lick the spoon!). The atmosphere is really neat, it feels like you are sitting in the nook of your favorite book store, with the smell of fresh cakes and pies wafting through the room. When in Bowral, you must visit the Elephant Boy Café!

Apparently they have the best coffee in Bowral … so what else do a group of 6 caffeine famished girlies do? Walk right on in during their busiest time — brunch, and pray to the gods they can squeeze us somewhere. We begged, we pleaded, we batted our eyelids, we even went so far as to negotiate a split table. The manager found the only table for 4 in the place, tacked on their ‘serving table’ and boom. table for 6 thanks. We had all of 5mins to read the menu and order since the kitchen closed at 11am. Talk about working it like a production line, we had our water on the table, the waitress took down our orders with 2mins to spare and now it was time to relax and wait for the«best coffee» in Bowral and of course the standard bacon/egg brekkie when in a country town — so for those that ordered lattes, they literally came in bowls — I no kid. I have been told that it was very well made, perfect temp, decent pull of coffee. The espresso that I had — definite punch… very dark with an incredible crema floating along the top, highly aromatic with just the right balance of acidity and bitterness — yep it had me smacking my lips for a lil’ bit after. Pity I didn’t focus on the type of coffee they serve. Love a good breakfast menu and they had a ton of options here. They also cater for the fussy eaters who feel the need to change up their menu(*raises hand in embarrassment* — yes I’m one of «them»). the only thing I could fault with their menu — they do not have avocado as a side — WHAT? Why no avo? I don’t get it. I even mentioned to the waitress that there is a brekkie dish on the menu that has avo in it — could they not just use the avo they clearly have for this dish, add it to mine and charge me extra? Ahhh that’s a negative ghostrider !! Nevermind. was a great morning overall and a café I would certainly go back to.

A cosy place with old books as decoration. They claim to have the best coffee in town, and they might be right! The cakes are served on a huge dish, and the one we tried was delicious. One portion is enough for two, or for a very hungry person.
