It was amazing to go there and drink Guaraná with a coxinha! Simple food homemade specially if you are from Brazil or want to taste our snacks. If ever going or coming from Bondi, stop there to fill up your energy.

GOOOOOOAAAALLLLLLL! Is the only appropriate way to start this review. Run by and kind of for Brazilians, although everyone else should definitely go there too, this place is my new favourite find in Bondi AKA Little Rio. You need to hit the Pastel Queijo, it’s kind of like a giant light empanada filled with air and meat and cheese and you jam lots of chilli and garlic sauces all over it and stuff it in your mouth with both hands because it’s not the sort of thing you can take your time with, you need it inside you as fast as humanly possible so you can order another one. And the prices, you guys. Cheap as anything. In the land of mega expenno $ 12 smoothies, this place serves them up around the $ 6 – 7 mark, there’s cheap snacks like fish cod cakes and kibbe, and bigger meals as well as a range of imported Brazilian groceries — I had to get the aforementioned sauces. Had to.

Since visiting Rio de Janeiro a few months ago, it’s hard to find a Brazilian restaurant but not in Bondi!!! Very small restaurant but great since it’s off the beaten path. Nothing fancy but definitely wanted to stop in for a «closer-to-genuine» Caipirinha. Not to bad. Obrigado Café Brazil.

Bondi has another life as a land of Capoeira, tiny swimsuits and Samba drums. There are so many South Americans, especially Brazillians in the area that a South American festival is held here ever year. Consequently there is also a proliferation of Brazillian shops and products to service the local community. Having lived in Newtown for much of the 90’s street drumming makes me cringe. As do tiny swimsuits on men. And there isn’t much Brazillian cuisine that is tempting to a vegetarian so I generally bypass the Brazillian BBQ’s etc. I was coerced into this lively little café by a friend from the Inner West who really wanted to try Brazillian food, and although I don’t know how traditional my avocado and eggplant sandwich was, it was pretty damn good.
