Harris Farm Markets is pretty much the be-all and end-all of fruit & veg shops. It really is more like a market as they have a massive amount of beautiful produce at super-cheap prices. I live near a pretty decent fruit & veg shop but if I’m having people over for dinner I’ll always make the extra effort to come here. Favourite: buckets of peaches, lemons, tomatoes etc on special as you enter. One thing I dislike about most fruit shops«specials» section is that everything tensd to be wrapped in loads of plastic which is a) bad for the produce and b) sux for the environment. They keep the buckets at checkout & you get your fruit in a regular plastic bag. Genius! Harris Farms also stock a really great array of gourmet groceries and cheeses and sell by the wheel. Which makes me wheely happy. Don’t worry, I’ll show myself out…

If you’re in the area Harris Farm within the Eastgate shopping centre can be a great place to pick up the fresh fruit and veggies without having to lugg them through a shopping centre. The great thing here, is that the shop is situated inside the carpark on the lower level, and it’s very easy(1 hour free) to park, and do your shopping on one easy level — then take the whole shopping trolly back to the car at once. The service there is very convenient and friendly, and they often have good specials to keep an eye out for. Its a great place to get inspiration on a great variety of fresh veggies, that you may not be too familiar with — and give the fresh cheese a try — as they have a great and relatively well prices array.
