What’s a realistic expectation to have of a restaurant in a shopping mall? It’s so hard to know. I wondered if my dinner at Per Se in the Time Warner Center in New York fit into this category. Whatever – it’s still the best fine dining experience I’ve had. But Bo Larn, which is in Westfield Bond Junction, is about the best mall dining experience I’ve had in Sydney. Clearly others agree: it’s very busy on a Saturday night. It’s reasonably cheap, freshly made, with more attentive service than other places nearby. I’m off to a movie tonight(The Revenant) so this was a perfect pre-movie place to eat. Winning dishes are the curries and stir fried plates. Least successful dish: roasted pork belly. Great value too. Watch out for the 3% American Express surcharge. Now, for the popcorn…

Great Thai place! They had so many dishes that I have never had before and the flavor was great! We ordered the pork skewers, yellow curry crab, phat see ew, green papaya salad and roasted pumpkin stir fry. The pumpkin dish was surprisingly good as American cuisine does not use pumpkin that often.

love this place! Located on the top floor of Bondi Junction Westfield, this restaurant has more to offer than just a pretty/romantic ambiance. The menu is in a form of newsletter, which is pretty cool. There is a wide range of thai dishes, from the usual stir fry to noodles to salads… I had the pad siew ew and it’s definitely one of the best I had. Great in flavour with a generous serving of meat. Pay a little more, skip the foodcourt and head upstairs to try this place, you wont regret :)

Decided to dine here at 9pm on Monday after watching a movie upstairs and was pleasantly surprised as soon as my partner and I were seated. The restaurant is beautiful and you instantly forget you’re inside Westfield. I ordered the beef phad see iw and it was easily the best Thai noodle dish I’ve had. Other dishes ordered were the scallops for entrée, chicken and lamb. I only tried the lamb but it was amazing(obviously, because it’s lamb). Customer service was friendly and the menu is well priced. Will definitely be back to try 100 other authentic dishes.

This is a Thai place with flavour and freshness! I ordered the pork bun and the prawn bun but had the opportunity to try some of my friends dishes and they were all top notch. Situated in the Bondi junction Westfield on the top floor, this may be a good place to have dinner before seeing a movie! The staff are friendly, the atmosphere is lovely!

This Thai oasis is located on the upper level of Bondi Junction Westfield. I had this place wrote off for no apparent reason because from the outside there’s absolutely nothing wrong with it. It’s located next to my gym so I’m going to assume familiarity played some part in ignoring it for this long. Finally I decided to give it a go on a random Tuesday night with a friend of mine. The staff were very inviting and welcoming to us and quickly seated us in the back of the restaurant and when I blinked I wasn’t in a restaurant in the Westfield because the place is decorated beautifully highlighting the amazing culture that Thai furnishing has to offer the world. We were going to be getting a degustation of food which was going to make this place hit or miss. To begin we had poached prawns on a betel leave which was combined with palm sugar and spices. The best thing is that the whole thing could be eaten together, leaves and all. Delicious Scallops were also served. For the next round we got a plate of fried pork with a spicy dip and Thai mango salad with soft shell crab. The Soft shell crab was super delicious and the salad was the right level of spicy. The pork was ok but the dipping sauce was really good we ended up keeping it to use for other dishes if we needed. For the mains we were served Crispy Salmon, Lamb Shank Curry and a pumpkin stir fry. The Crispy Salmon was beautifully cooked with a combination of chilli paste and lime and was served with lime. The dish was beautiful and salmon had a perfect level of crunch factor. The Lamb Shank was served in Massaman coconut curry with some very fluffy mash. The flavouring was really good and didn’t steal from the beautifully cooked lamb that just fell off the bone perfectly. The Pumpkin dish was a real surprise because I would normally never consider this one as a choice but the flavouring selections were sublime. It combined Pumpkin, snow peas, capsicums, mushroom, tofu, egg and coriander with the restaurants special sauce. This was definitely a great dish and something I would order when I return. We waddled out of the restaurant feeling full of course but also satisfied that Bo Larn offers Westfield patrons a classy venue choice with some absolutely awesome food selections. Will definitely come back here because my experience was top class.
