There is definitely a cool vibe in this restaurant — music is great, staff is all smiling and friendly, high-stools sittings on round table making it a convivial dinner… But I found the dishes very blend in flavours(tomatoe, basil,…) except for chilli overload making every bite way too hot. We got the pasta a l arrabiata and arancinis. Both of us felt sick in the evening as well :-( Definitely not a great memory and I feel there are heaps of better options around hall st.

As out of towners, a bunch of girlfriends and I stumbled across this place by default, we were originally looking for another pizza bar that had been recommended to us. We were drawn into Mad Pizza by the busy atmosphere, the tunes and the devine looking pizzas that were spread across the number of tables out on the street. My single friends were also drawn to the very handsome staff that seemed to grace this place, not one of them could be faulted. After all we are in Bondi Beach. Once we weaved our way inside passed a couple of Sydney AFL players celebrating a Saturday night, we squashed up at the bar to enjoy a drink as there was not one spare table. It’s a busy place and unless you book, no chance of a seat. We were able to order a couple of pizzas at the bar and enjoy a cocktail or two until the Happy Hour kicked in at 9pm ~ $ 5 vino, basic spirits and beer. That’s a bargain for peak hour. There is a live DJ who keeps the place alive too! If you’re a pizza critic then this place is for you. Authentic style pizzas with thin bases. Lots of flavour and cooked to perfection! I will definitely be back again. Not by default next time!

«What is best in life, Conan?» «To crush your enemies, to see them driven before you, and to hear the lamentations of their women.» Twenty-five tipsy, hungry barbarian marauders stormed the function room at the back of this Bondi ‘za bar with designs on feasting and mirth. Overwhelmed, it took the merchants a while to get into the swing of the all-you-can-eat menu on offer and, spurred by the floor-stamping, wolf-whistling, drink-swilling, table-bashing hordes camped out ‘twixt the gentle diners out front and fire pits out back, eventually they delivered. Vegetarian numbers loaded with truffle oil, seafood rounds resplendent with clams, and potato and prosciutto pies: all were devoured by the barbarians, who laughed and sang long into the night, and left the caravan of sustenance only when the mead ran dry and the fires burned low.

If like me, you believe that floppy, foldable, thin-crusted pizza is the only way forward, you’ll be very pleased with what appears in front of you at Mad Pizza. You’ll be even more pleased when your pitcher of sangria arrives. For me, this neighbourhood spot ticks all the boxes. A wide range of toppings ranging from the wildly healthy to the meat-tastic things of your arteries’ nightmares, a full bar with nightly(late) happy hour specials, super chilled out«get in the mood for the beach» music a la Fat Freddy’s Drop and Jack Johnson, and a friendly staff that’s happy to keep the food and booze coming. It’s a great little spot to add to your list of Bondi Beach stalwarts.
