We chose to eat here al fresco and take in the fabulous view overlooking the beach. We had a lovely laid-back lunch — I had a delicious gnocchi dressed simply with a little butter and truffle oil, asparagus, porcini mushrooms and crispy sage leaves(the best!) accompanied by a nice shiraz. Great spot for a relaxed meal.

This spot right off main street in Bondi is a nice little place to have a snack or an easygoing lunch. You can either sit inside or at the terrace right outside overlooking Bondi. If you sit outside you can probably be disturb by heavy traffic… but hey this is Aussie? Theres no traffic jams here! Other than that, you can enjoy some people watching while eating your meal. Their sandwiches are great and will get the job done for a lighter meal. Pricing is reg. Bondi style so its nothing to raise an eyebrow for. Service was a bit slow when we arrived, but they catched up and delivered according to expectations after that. This is neither fancy or just a simple joint, its a casual place to have some food at. If you are in Bondi for the day, this will probably settle your needs, and give you a nice outpost for the rest of your day.

Nicht ganz mittendrin und nicht ganz so schick. Aber herzlich und freundlich und lecker. Gegrillter Squid auf Salat war prima. — Fazit: da kann man gut hingehen.

It’s got a great view of the water– location is excellent but hey, we’re here for the food and it’s as good as it gets when it comes to Italian. I’ve read a LOT about the famous angel hair pasta with tuna that the chef Andy Davies created, and finally came up to Bondi to experience it(I’m from Canberra) and it is well worth the hype. Delicious(has to be fresh and served straight away I was told so the wait time was nothing) and cooked perfectly; we also got the ravioli which was also amazing.

Horrible service, rude staff. Didn’t get all our food we order because staff are too rude to listen to customer… then was asked if I wanted to tip!

We fell upon this place when we were hungry after a full mornings day of working outside. They had outdoor seating which was fantastic for me, it meant that I got to pat all the poochies that went past and make new friends. There’s also seating inside and on the raised balcony. The staff seem to know their thing and you get a good feed, the food wasn’t out of this world but it did hit the spot. There are bathrooms inside and they won’t split the bill for you but at least they accept card payments.

Don’t let the star rating fool you — a sunny afternoon at Bondi Trattoria can’t be beat. If you’re lucky enough to snag one of the outdoor tables, I’d recommend calling all of your friends and taking advantage for hours on end. The food is perfect for a relaxed lunch — a strangely cohesive blend of modern Australian and Italian, and my eggplant parmigiana cozied up quite nicely to my companion’s tasmanian ocean trout with roast almond aioli. The gnocchi was definitely a standout as well(potato and goats cheese gnocchi with asparagus, porcini, burnt butter and sage to be precise). All in all, a lovely way to spend a long afternoon and a bit more money than anticipated. All that said, I think the secret of BT is coming for breakfast. A breakfast pizza with smoked ham, egg, spinach, cherry tomatoes, mushrooms and provolone or(ahem, and) 2x stacked buttermilk pancakes with blueberry compote, banana, mascarpone and maple syrup sounds like a morning beach workout I could get behind.

food — the prosciutto, fig and mozzarella pizza was food, the gnocchi were clearly homemade with just a hint of truffle oil keeping things subtle. Pizza gets a 3, Pasta a 4. service — nice efficient service from clean cut, young and good looking staff atmosphere — great location on a higher elevation of bondi beach. The restaurant opens up with some tables on the terrace and the others inside but feel like they are outside. Between the cars, the music and the patrons, this place is loud. value — 27.5AUD for a pizza that is too small to share is excessive, 22AUD for pasta is also on the steep side.

This place does really great food — even their bacon and egg Turkish roll is top notch. Wow, the Australianisms are coming out — I think it’s because my head is filled with the iconic Bondi. But what a place to show the tourists how good we are at food and service in this country. City to Surf day is not the best day to head to Bondi. It is ridiculously packed and there are people waiting to get into every café/restaurant in the area. Bondi Trattoria is use to the manic pace obviously as we were seated in 10 minutes, served in 10 and had food in under 15. The service was impeccable given it was an extremely busy day. Sit back, enjoy the views(perhaps with a glass of bubbly) and get some good grub into you. All round pretty good.

Bondi Trattoria(or «tratt», as I’ve heard it referred to by locals) boasts an enviable location at the top of Campbell Parade, overlooking the length of Bondi Beach from its roadside perch. Though the name might suggest an Italian approach to food, the meals served are decidedly modern Australian with an emphasis on seafood across lunch and dinner menus. A breakfast stop off called for a serving of their truly enormous buttermilk pancakes; two of them, fluffy and not overly sweet, topped with a generous dollop of mascarpone, fresh blueberries and slices of banana with a side of maple syrup. Coveted verandah tables are hard to come by unless you arrive early, but no matter in the warmer months where indoor seating is a welcome reprieve from the heat. Large group bookings, be warned — BYO is forbidden for bigger parties, as I recently discovered.

It might have some of the best views of Bondi, however the«Tratt» is not living up to the quality of its location. It’s not that the food is bad here, actually the food can be quite good but due to the high volume of people moving through the restaurant the service is compromised. When it’s good it’s fine but more often it’s slow and inconsistent. I’ve been to Tratt a lot over the years as it was my mum’s favourite café in Bondi for quite some time. She’s moved on and found a new favourite café(Trio for those who were curious) and I’ve found it a little lacklustre each time I’ve been recently. While there’s no beating an outdoor table here on a beautiful sunny day I think this café needs to try harder to be better.

I walk past this place often and its always full… and I’ve never quite worked out why… it’s not that its bad… it’s just not that good… perhaps its tourists who are filling up the seats? Bondi Trattoria looks excellent from the outside — it take over a corner and has the feeling of a café you may find in Cannes. Patrons sit outside looking quite sophisticated as they sip on their lattes and so I suppose the atmosphere makes it quite fun… but for me, I’m a food girl — make me crave your meal that I have to go back… and I didn’t experience that when I visited the café. I went there for dinner an ordered the fussili puttanesca($ 26.90) — fettucine prima vera — asparagus, sugar snaps, spinach, broccolini, cherry tomatoes, basil, lemon & air dried ricotta. It sounds good doesn’t it? Well it was good –ish…but not amazing! Their waitstaff were friendly and to their credit they have great variety of food but this doesn’t rate high on my «must» cafes for Bondi. Breakfast meals are between $ 5 — $ 17 Lunch meals are between $ 8 — $ 33 Dinner meals are between $ 18 — $ 35

Another of Bondi’s great original cafes, Bondi Trattoria(the Tratt as it’s affectionately known) has been perched at the corner of Campbell Pde since the mid 80’s and has resisted the urge to bring it’s prices up to the exorbitant levels most eating holes in the area rest at. For some reason I only ever come here for breakfast, I think because I am so damn addicted to the roasted truffle field mushrooms they do at a very reasonable $ 8.90. They are licensed and have a creative Italian-Australian fusion dinner menu and a great chef so I’m sure it’s a mighty fine place to dine! The Tratt always has a friendly buzz, and with it’s outdoor tables and decent views of Bondi it’s a nice place to sit in the sun and enjoy a morning coffee with the locals.
