Really good and fresh seafood. They cook to order. Pricing is standard to most places in Sydney.

Huge range of food on the menu. Large servings of chips which were nice and crispy. Not too oily. Went down a treat!

After reading the reviews I figured this is a must try. Wasn’t too impressed although I must say the fried fish is pretty good. The garlic prawns were kind of gross. And the octopus and chips was in a sweet chili kind of sauce. Just didn’t really go well. I wouldn’t come back.

This has to be the best fish and chip shop that I have ever been to! Greeted with a smile and a quick rundown of the menu items– you instantly feel welcome! They know their menu back to front — fried, grilled and fresh options all available. The service = FAST!!! As my order was taken it was promptly shouted to the line of cook staff behind the counter. They obviously have the experience because that place ran like a well oiled machine! We ordered a salt and pepper squid combo, a chicken burger, 2 seafood sticks and 2 seafood scallops and we were in and out with our food in… Wait for it… Under 5 minutes!!! The salt and pepper squid was the best I’ve had. Hands down. It is just so fresh and the batter is seasoned perfectly. It is exactly how salt and pepper squid should be! The seafood sticks and scallops were sooooo tender and juicy! Every bite was an explosion of juiciness! And the chicken burger had a delicious dressing, the crumbed chicken was cooked to perfection and the roll was extremely soft! Anytime I head to Bondi from this day forth I will be having a meal here!

I was rolling around in Bondi when I got a text from my friend–«where are you at?» «Bondi!» «Promise me you will go and try the deep fried mars bar!» She couldn’t even tell me the name of the shop… but the power of Internet helped me figure it out in no time. I was surprised by how huge it turned out(Mars Bar is pretty tiny in my memory…) I was hoping for a snack and I got much, much more than what I bargained for… The batter was thick and it was hot… it tastes good but wayyyyyyyyyyy too sweet for me. There is simply no way I could finish it.

Deep Fried Mars Bar * * * * * Too sweet, you ask? Maybe for some, but I’m a sweet tooth by nature so I beg to differ. It tasted like a very yummy, warm and gooey Greek dessert. Although I devoured it in less than 5 minutes, I have to say it would have gone down even nicer with a scoop of vanilla ice-cream. My advice, is that if you’re a sweet tooth then don’t think too much about whether you would like it or not. Next time you go to Bondi Beach, treat yourself after your serving of fish ‘n’ chips. You won’t be disappointed.

The best Fish and Chip shop at Bondi Beach. Fast efficient service with a great choice of fresh fish to choose from. Made to order(grilled or battered options) for any fish of your choice. Lots of specials to choose from that this place is a Seafood Lover’s Paradise. Their famous ‘Deep Fried Mars Bar’ is on the menu — which I’ve heard is a must try. Next time I will.

Great fish and chips! My husband had grilled barramundi and it was also good. This is a great place to go for quick takeaway fish and chips close to the beach.

Very delicious fresh sea food, grilled or deep fried incl. catch of the day. Location close to beach. Try also the deep fried oysters and the mars bars! Very tastily!

I personally come here for the fresh fish that I cook on my own at home. Hard to find fresh fish at night during the week after work. This place is opened late, has great prices and you can get wild fish that cooks beautifully. If you live in bondi and work until 630 at night this is your place for a home cooked dinner.

First bite of fish and chips in Australia! Based on the fresh fish and seafood at the window and number of customers that were lined up, I had to try this place. It was also awarded Sydney’s Best Seafood, Fish & Chips in 2011. There are many specials to choose from, but I decided to go with their fried daily fish-of-the-day and thick cut fries. Not bad, but pricey at $ 11.50. The better deal is their 2 fish &1 chip deal at $ 21 because they give you plenty of fries in a single order. It was a substantial amount, but lacked flavor. Although there is salt added on top, I should have requested some lemons to give it a kick. Any additional sauce costs extra. The fish(I believe it was barramundi) was extremely fresh, but the fries were a bit thick for me. More like wedges. I also had the chance to try their oysters that my friend ordered. Very fresh, but again not flavorful. If I returned, it would be to pick up some of their fresh seafood offered or possibly try their infamous DEEPFRIEDMARSBAR! Was unaware at the time they offered such a treat. haha Whether yummy or not, this restaurant is situated right in front of Bondi Beach, so being able to do take-out and eat sitting on the sand or at the many picnic tables is another pro.

Be it just the ordinary Fish&Chips with vinegar or a more sophisticated dinner of Balmain Bugs, swordfish and the like … … it does not get much better than spending an afternoon surfing and the picking up a paper wrapped dinner from there. Pure bliss. All freshly made.

Ordered the salmon with chips while my mother and brother ordered the fish and chips for two special. The inside was a fish market, giving a solid indication that the fish served was going to be fresh. The grilled salmon filet was pretty solid. Cooked to be a little drier than I expected, but salmon is salmon and it was delicious. The original fried fish was so juicy and the batter was so crunchy. Served with lemon and salt, it proved to be one of the best fish n chips I’ve had in a long time. This was definitely tastier than my salmon filet. Probably cause it was deep fried, though. The chips(fries) were so thick and crispy. Deep fried to perfection, served blazing hot. Had to wait for them to cool down to even start scarfing them down. Also ordered the deep fried Mars bar and oh boy was it delicious. I have a serious sweet tooth so it was amazing, but my brother had a harder time putting it down because of the overwhelming sweetness. I would come here again just for this. Solid fish n chips but the deep fried Mars bar keeps you coming for more.

What a great spot for fresh fish, anyway you like it! It’s located on the street facing Bondi Beach and we popped in for some fish and chips. We couldn’t decide between what kind of fish to have, as they had different specials posted on the board. The guy behind the counter was nice enough and offered to combine two specials so we could try both types of fish. There’s also a counter for fresh fish you can buy raw or have them grill or fry! They also put this seasoning(I think they called it chicken salt) on top of the chips. The lunch special with 2 fish and chips was enough for the three of us with plenty of chips leftover. In total, $ 22 for two kinds of fresh local fish, on the beach, and enough for three of us. The store has a small counter if you choose to eat in, but we had to eat fish and chips on the beach. If you do the same, beware of seagulls!

Like the other reviewers said — not the absolute best fish and chips, buuuuuuuut… DEEPFRIEDMARSBARS! Win. An Aussie friend of mine said it was a must-have. Damn, he was right. I don’t think I could ever go back to Bondi without thinking of a deep fried Mars bar, and it’ll certainly be one of the things I miss most when I leave Oz.

It’s true. Deep fried Mars bars. Also — banana and pineapple fritters. Yep. But beyond those admittedly incredible heart attack in-a-snack indulgences, Bondi Surf Seafood is an excellent, excellent chippy and fishmonger. It’s not fancy, but for a lover of all things seafood, I adore that I can walk in, pick my fish, and have it grilled right there in front of me. Even more so, I love that 10 minutes after walking in, I can be sitting on the beach with a piece of perfectly grilled tuna, Tassie salmon or barramundi and a fresh greek salad, or a pile of freshly prepped sashimi. Add some calamari in there too, what the hell. This is also my stop of choice when picking up fish to prepare at home. The prices are completely reasonable and the quality is fantastic. Can’t go wrong with fish that comes in daily from Sydney Fish Markets!

Fish & Chips is ok. The lobster mornay is made of surimi with a tiny piece of lobster perched on top. I ordered lobster & chips but got surimi & chips for $ 17.00. Hate getting ripped off.

Well damn! I dare to say this is the best calamari I’ve ever had. Just check out my picture to see how huge the calamari was. Not only that, but the chips underneath were some of the best chips ever! If this wasn’t over $ 10, it would have gotten 6 stars. Australia’s expensive, but this was a pretty good meal for the price!

Sadly I never got to try the Mars bar that everyone seems to be talking about, however I did get to try the fish & chips. They were one of the best that I’ve ever had, if not the best. Prices are also very reasonable and definitely some of the best deals that you can find on Bondi Beach. It’s mainly a take away restaurant but the service here really impressed me when I was here. They were very friendly and helpful, catering to any special requests like extra salt. Also they have tons of fresh seafood that can be bought there, excellent!

Bondi Surf Seafood is a traditional style fish’n’chippie in the greatest sense of the word. Serving up those paper wrapped packets that you rip open like a kid with a Christmas present because you’re too impatient to unwrap it in a civilised manner. And then you’ve drowned them in so much vinegar that a massive spurt of steam escapes and burns your fingers when you tear into the packet… don’t tell me you don’t know what I’m talking about. And don’t tell me your mouth isn’t watering at the thought right now! They source their seafood daily from the fish market, have been voted«Sydney’s Best Seafood» and serve up home made tartare and other sauces. Best of all for Brits or the British-dietarily-inclined, they sell fresh rolls so you can make chip butties, and deep-fried Mars Bars(yeah that’s right!)
