Never have I had a disappointing experience in this lovely café. With friends or dining solo its simply a pleasant place to start the day. Happy hour & ½ breakfast is a draw card for me with all meals priced @ $ 9.90 between 6.30a.m. and 8.ooa.m. The coffee is always good!

Top Nosh is a café in an antique/gift shop with loads of seating inside and out with loads of interesting things to draw your attention while you wait for your meal. We ordered a couple of coffees, Eggs Benedict and a Big Breakfast with high hopes for runny yolks all round. The eggs benny arrived well before the big breakfast so it was lucky we were planning to share. Unfortunately the poachies were hard with Hollandaise drowning everything. If you’re not a fan of excessive hollandaise make sure you ask for it on the side as they are overly generous and it can spoil the dish. The big breakfast arrived and hurrah — runny eggs! But that only goes so far towards redemption. I may be too picky but if I can cook perfect poached eggs every time at home then I tend to expect the same when I’m paying a pro. My search for consistent soft poachies continues…

Top Nosh is a pretty cool place. Especially because its smack bang in the middle of some king of quasi-shopping district on the edges of Brisbane’s inner north. I went here because my wife and I were in search of a coffee store on the way out to Redcliffe. We pulled into the parking lot with not much help and then we spotted a classy and modern looking sign. Outside two middle-aged women were drinking coffees with pinkies tilted up. Full of wonderment, we hopped out of the car and made our way in. For a brief second thought we’d misread the sign as we found ourselves surrounded by home wares and women’s clothing. To our right we saw another seating area with some more middle aged women sipping on ceramics and nibbling on cakes. A man own the front called us down and welcomed us in. He took our order and we wandered through the store impressed with the diversity of the retail on offer. When our coffees were up I went to the counter and took them to hand and found my wife considering buying a summer dress that looks like it had been exported from the 1920’s. As we walked out I was informed that we were going to go back there next payday. That was fine with me.
