An excellent toy shop and an excellent junior science shop. Terrific Scientific trumps rivals Socrates and Australian Geographic purely by range. It doesn’t have the biggest range, but it has the most desirable and dynamic one. I remember going as a kid and spending what felt like hours gawping at every shelf. There was(and probably still is) an unspoken rule that if you don’t know what to buy a child, buy them something from here. It will always work.

Terrific Scientific has been around since I was a kid. There’s a lot to be said by the fact that I remembered that this store was on Booth Street from a childhood memory, considering that most car rides start at Are We There Yet Avenue and end at Let Me Out I Want To Puke Crescent. From here, many of the edutainment presents you received as a child originated. Sure, a cylinder which replicates thunder isn’t going to help mould you into Einstein 2.0(–badder than ever! – ) and neither will a make-your-own-volcano, but I went nuts over this stuff then, I still do, and so do all the kids I know. This is a great destination to drop in to pick up a gift for the curious minded little people in your life; I wish I could give you a value judgement, but I really have no idea how much toys cost now and especially no idea of how much they cost when I was a kid.(Basically, everything was ‘infinity dollars’). I have never been fussed with the prices when I’ve visited, so take that as your indication.
