The food that I’ve gotten here was decent, I’ve had better and I’ve had worst. But not too long ago my friend got a vindaloo that looked like cheap gravy mixed with a mysterious good with a few bits of beef thrown in, barely cooked. I wouldn’t go out of my way to dine here again.

My partner and I visited this restaurant on a quiet weekday evening and had to wait quite a while for the service. The layout is very basic with wooden tables and chairs and the inside décor features muted colours, so we hoped it might prove to be one of those unassuming, unpretentious hidden gems. It is unpretentious and there sole member of waiting staff working that night was nice and polite. The Sheekh Kabab — Minced lamb skewered and barbecued with aromatic Indian spices — was unavailable the night we went, so my partner opted for the Chicken Shaslicks with tomato, capsicum and onion on skewer, marinated with yoghurt and backin the tandoor. When the food did arrive it was pleasant enough and the portions were a good size. The chicken was OK and adequately seasoned, while the fish was well cooked and spices perfectly balanced. I wasn’t offered a refill of wine, which was a bit of a shame because the Forrest Estate Sauvignon Blanc went nicely with my dish of saag paneer, which was nice enough, with plenty of spinach and cheese. The roti bread was good, although I ran out of sauce to soak the wholemeal bread up in. The overall experience was quite nice, it was just a shame about the wait for food.

Based on my limited experience of one type of curry, I reckon I’d probably be quite happy to eat here again. I must admit, I only had takeaway, so I didn’t really see how the cutlery looked, how comfortable the chairs were, or whether the light bulbs were of the correct wattage and colour. The curry I had was creaming, slightly warm spice-wise, but still possibly a little on the not-spicy enough side. A safe bet if you’re ordering for someone who finds pepper to be too hot. The price was alright. Not insanely cheap, not stupidly expensive. I’m another who would be happy to try this place again.

I went in here under duress(well, there were no other restaurants around that were still open at 10pm) on night, and I was surprised at how much I enjoyed the food. Based on the ambiance and position of the restaurant I wasn’t expecting too much. I ordered a butter chicken and rice, take away. The food was actually really nice. The chicken tasted like chicken, which is always a bonus, and the sauce was lovely and rich, which went great with my rice. Would definitely go back.
