I’ve never thought all that much about Mexican food until a friend of mine, who absolutely loves the stuff, decided to drag me here for his birthday lunch one year. Mind you, even after than I’ve never gone out of my way to have Mexican food(though that is beginning to change somewhat). Anyway, when I came back to Adelaide I knew that I had to come here for old time sake, and to also check it out once again so I could write a Unilocal review. Anyway, this is what I would call a Mexican Subway, not that there happens to be one on every street corner, but you get to pick and choose what salads you have on your Burrito. Oh, they also have beer, but then again I don’t think I’ve been to a Mexican restaurant that doesn’t do beer — it sort of seems to go with the territory. Not a bad place, but then again not really the best either.

Amazing. chilli con carne burito, nachos and chilli cheese fries are great. Cant go wrong with the king size cocktails. Staff were friendly and were egar to help with anything we required. Happy to have a chat as they made your order too. Thank you for a great dinner. Also awesome to provide a few table games too.

Arrived this morning at opening and was met at the door by the owner. This eatery is LOCALLY owned and NOT a franchise… exactly the type of business I like to support ++. He smiled, offered me a $ 2 off voucher and welcomed me to the location after introducing himself. Now on to the food. As others have stated, the portions are quite generous. I got a chicken burrito(XLarge for $ 2 more… definitely go this route as it’s double meat for basically only 20% more base expense) with guac. They only charge $ 0.50 more for guac where Zamberors charges $ 2.00 more. In addition, the guac serving portion was much more sizable then at Zamberors. As far as taste goes, it’s a toss up, though I do like the black rice at Z’s(though, of course, they stick you an extra $ 1 for this option). If I had to choose between Z’s and Burp I’d definitely go with Burp. If I ever return to Adelaide, it’ll be my go to lunch spot.

Very average, its not often you get a Mexican meal and its not flavour filled. Unfortunately the steak burrito i had was bland and uninspiring. If it was for the chilli’s it would have been by far the worst meal i have had. it doesn’t help when you wait for about 15 – 20 mins before you can start your order. The price was okay but if you’re in the area i would probably give it a pass with plenty of other options available. A lot of room for improvement but its not a lost cause.

If you want generous portions for your Mexican fix then this place is definitely it. Burp has been around long, long before Mexican food was an ‘it’ thing in A-town, and despite all the hip, newfangled Mexican joints coming in now Burp is still doing very well and it gets quite busy during lunch times. Now back to the food. Yes, you compare this place to say Zambreros down the street and the new franchise Salsa’s Fresh Mex Grill portion wise Burp is so much more generous and is definitely of more value. The staff here are either very generous or are told not to to be stingy on the toppings or both(they’re a lovely, smiley bunch by the way). They load my burritos and nachos with whatever I ask for; plenty of jalepenos and guacamole for me! I heard they never used to charge for guacamole but now they do I guess because all the other Mexican joints also charge for it which I find bit ridiculous I mean why wouldn’t you have guacamole? It’s a must. My friends and I like the private seating area at the back where’s comfy sofas and it’s great place to lounge around and dive into your fresh Mexican food, and beer if you’re up for it. A favourite. Love this place.

I had the veggie xl burrito, i was very exciting cause all i had for the past month was delicious asian food all around australia… But. That burrito was the worst i ever had. No taste, cold, watery, the rice was just a ball of rubber. Anyway, it was very very bad!

A horror story. Visited the place near closing time, the ingredients behind the glass counter looked in bad shape(been simmering all day, flies everywhere, messy counters, ingredients accidentally mixed…), and the taste was far from enjoyable. Plus, this could probably be the farthest from Tex Mex I’ve had in my life(which is understandable, given the distance to northern Mexico and Texas). The staff are friendly, but seemed overworked and underpaid.

Poor Burp. They were pretty much the first burrito joint in town, then Zambrero’s opened just down the street and everyone kinda forgot about them. Sure, they aren’t as flashy. Sure, it can be argued they aren’t as tasty. But Burp have an advantage over the big Z in a few distinct areas. Firstly, their serves are more generous. You get significantly more burrito for the same money, mainly because the staff aren’t instructed to use highly controlled measurements. Secondly, the staff are friendlier. They don’t seem to hate their jobs quite as badly as Zambrero’s staff. Thirdly, the food seems more authentic. They don’t have the fancy sauces and the franchise mentality. The food seems more like what you would expect to find in Mexico(or at least East LA). Fourthly(and this is a big one), they don’t charge extra for guacamole. The dining in experience is nicer too. They have a laid back atmosphere and even supply some dodgey old board games for those which time to kill. So yeah, Burp may have become the poor cousin of Hindley Street burrito bars, but it has a charm and personality that the other joint will never have.

Not impressed when the wait staff has no idea about Mexican food and their only defense is «I just work here»…had to remind them to bring our drinks… food was average, despite asking for spicy… wouldn’t recommend. zero ambience

*Burp Burp Burp* Burp would have gotten 5 stars if it was consistently good service, Sometimes I will come here and the lady working is super helpful and friendly(I think she might be the manager) and the food is hot and delicious. On the odd occasion the service is less good and the food less hot. But generally it is the former so I keep on coming back. You can get a taco pretty cheap here($ 3.50 without any extra stuff like delicious guacamole) that’s cheaper than a happy meal in fact. AND you can order a beer or cocktail with your taco so that’s pretty happy i’d say. Add the baby nachos to your meal they are less than $ 3 and om nom nom. The burritos are slightly more expensive than the tacos but more filling, and you can get a burrito loyalty card where you get a certain number and get one free!

I first met Burp about 7 years ago, and this 15 year old was instantly in love. But over the years they began to fall from their pedestal. The burritos were still tasty, but they just weren’t that great. So the other day, after noticing Mamak Corner was closed and Burp was going to be the tastiest quick meal in sight, I decided to head back there. Sure I was remembering why I don’t really go there anymore, so much better food out there. But it was quick, accessible, and it was a lot better than popping in to McDonald’s. I was disappointed that their mango salsa looked like it came from a jar, but most of the other salsas and toppings looked fresh. They have friendly service, a good range of drinks, I just don’t worship at the counter of Burp like I did when I was 15.

It is funny the moments of your life you remember. I’m not talking about the random dumb crap you do that sticks in your head forever like overly worked Hubba Bubba on the bottom of your shoe(bins people… use em!)! I am talking about those life altering instances of pure joy that make you laugh, cry and scream random obscene words while grabbing your groin to do an MJ spin. Such days for me were the first time I tried Guiness(Angels singing), watching Die Hard… each and every time I watch it, and the first time I saw BURP! Then why have I not blown my load by throwing up the fifth star? Allow me to explain… BURP is one of my favourite spots in Adelaide. A brilliant little ecclectic Mexican Fast Foodie haunt that offers your standard quick eat dishes plus traditional drinks ie. Cerveza and Tequlilla! I think they serve soft drink and other liquid stuff to, but bugger that! I love the feel of the of the place, or the vibe for those a bit more in touch with hip phrases. Not overly well lit, with bright colours and oodles of decoration to completely discombobulate your senses. I wonder if I am the first person to use the word ‘discombobulate’ in a Unilocal?Interesting! The reson for the minus star is simply that the food is not the best Mexican I have ever had. It is pretty good, and not worth complaining about, but just not up to the supreme level that a restaurant needs to be to get a 5 banger from this little tubby Unilocalian! For me, it is the perfect place to go if you are meeting some mates after work and need a feed before hitting the turps… having said that the tacos go down a treat when you are three sheets too!

OK so 5 stars is a little much for a borderline fast food place, but I honestly had nothing to complain about. Well maybe that I could barely fit out the door once I was done. Burp has kick started another Mexican food binge for me. The menu was very create your own meal’ish and the prices were incredibly decent. I even got to try their hottest sauce and yep it was unbearably hot. The 2 girls working were amazingly friendly and quick. It was the first place I went in Adelaide and it totally upped the my first impression.

I love Mexican food, and I’m not entirely sure why. It just speaks to me. Burp is subsequently in my good books, providing some of the best and healthiest Mexican food in the city. They’ve got a large range of choices, including from burritos, hard-shell tacos, and nachos — all prepared with fresh ingredients right in front of your eyes. The taste is phenomenal, and the sauces really make the fillings burst with flavour. It’s a messy meal, but incredibly satisfying. You can also enjoy Mexican beer with your meal; a perfect way to polish off that spicy goodness. Burp also has a «ghost chilli challenge». They’ve stocked the hottest chilli in the world, and allow you, the customer, to try and take one head-on. I was speaking with a Burp employee once, and he told me that a man who had eaten one of these chillies came back to the shop hours later with his face still bright red, asking for water. It’s so bad that people with medical conditions are prohibited from participating. There’s no way I’d want to take the plunge, but if you think you have the cahones for it, then by all means! I think there’s a free T-shirt in it for you.

I wandered into Burp while shopping in town, directed by the amazing aromas of Mexican food. While there are a lot more Mexican cafes to choose from these days I loved this one. I especially love the vibe here and the way it has been fitted out so you feel that you are actually in a Mexican Cantina. The music was mellow and soothing as we sat and ate our amazing burritos. The selection of fillings and toppings were wonderfully fresh and there was lots of variety. The beans looked particularly good and tasted scrumptious. I filled up a Burrito with a plethora of exquisite vegetables, all for $ 7.90, amazing value and good healthy fast food. I will definitely be back.

Nice for a quick eat in the middle of town, and a good alternative to other fast foods. Burritos and Enchiladas are their main fare and they are always pretty tasty.(not had a bad one yet)

My husband dragged me in here one day as he thought the name was hilarouis. I was a bit apprehinsive of the quality food I could expect, but I was pleasently suprised. These guys actually do a decent burrito. I had the roast beef burrito and it was lovely. I’d go back again. I like the fact that you can pick and choose what you want to go in it. And if burritos are not your thing, they also have tacos, nachos, Quesadillas and enchiladas.

Good place for a quick lunch to eat on the go. I’ve had burrios and tacos here, haven’t tried anything else yet. I just can’t bring myself to order nachos — I mean, how hard is it to do at home? The service is really, really good. I like the friendly staff who genuinely sound like they’re interested whether or not you’ve had a good day, which is a pretty rare thing. I haven’t yet had a bad experience here, but I can see the potential for some very dodgy food if you turn up at the wrong time. I think the prices are pretty good, and it’s just a really convenient alternative to some of the other fast food places around.

I used to think Burp was pretty good, or at least one of my preferred options for a takeaway lunch on the east side of Hindley St. Until Zambrero came along! But more on that later. Burp is a South Australian franchise that does burritos, enchiladas and tacos. The service is always very friendly — the staff often ask me about my day, without being obtrusive. They are very quick — it is the kind of takeaway setup where you choose all your favourite ingredients from the bain marie, and the staff make it in front of you. Plus there is an amusing selection of unusual soft drinks and very very hot chilli sauces. The burritos are very reasonably priced, especially the vegetarian ones. Burp can be a little inconsistent though — sometimes they don’t have crucial ingredients in bain marie. I get the impression that they don’t regularly change over and refresh the ingredients — I’ve had some really delicious burritos there, and some really sludgy ones. IMHO, a good burrito is a delicate balance. Crispy, refreshing fresh veges(red onion, tomato, cucumber, lettuce) + warm, spicy beans or meat + loads of guacamole + a tangy salsa(lemon, coriander, lime). Sometimes Burp get it, sometimes they don’t.
