I really like this pub, especially since it is a short walk from the Victoria Park railway station so that if the train home just happens to be a little too packed (especially if a train has been cancelled fro whatever reason) this is one of the places that I can jump off the train and have a beer before catching the next train home which may not be, but usually is, somewhat less packed (though it generally doesn’t mean that I get a seat). They have live music here, though the only time that I have been here late enough to see a gig it was country and western, not exactly my favourite style of music. They also have a pretty cool beer garden, part of it being under cover another part of it being out in the open. Okay, from the outside it looks like a pretty run down place, but once you step inside you find yourself in one of those cool inner-​city pubs.

I’m not sure if this bar is usually as packed on Saturday’s or if it was just full of fans there to see the live band. Best bet would be to book a table just in case, oh and order your food early.
The kitchen was unable to fill two of our orders, and 20mins after ordering we were asked to change our preference. The kitchen appeared inundated with orders and food was arriving out of sequence and heavily delayed. The food itself was quite tasty, and I was totally smitten with the sweet potato fries.
Finding street parking was a bit of a challenge.

First time at the Yarra to catch up with friends & see a band, the Rechords doing a live recording. Thinking it would be pretty busy I booked a table for 8 in the beer garden. We arrived at different times & placed our food orders at various times. It was pretty busy but we didn’t expect to be waiting for our meals for over 45 mins, by which time we had lost our appetites or were starving! My cheeseburger arrived last but I’m pleased to say that I was offered a complimentary cider by our lovely waitress without even having made a complaint. I reckon that’s good service & something that doesn’t always happen in this situation.

I went down to this pub this (Sunday) afternoon. The place seemed nice enough without being brilliant. They had a nice beer garden with a $ 15 barbeque in the back and the bar is nice, situated right in the middle of the place. The staff are friendly but the acoustic music isnt really my thing.
Its the sort of place that Id call «just another pub» — its nice enough but it doesnt do enough for me to give it 4 stars. Id also like to see it at night before making a judgement.
