This is another one of those really cool little pubs hidden away from the main strips that I really like. Okay, I generally don’t get here as often as I would like to, though it is not as far out of my way as other pubs. In fact it’s a pretty short walk from Collingwood Railway Station, though you do have to know where to find it because as I have suggested it is hidden away from the more populated strips. However that doesn’t stop the crowds descending upon this place on a Friday night to the point that it can be a little difficult trying to find a seat. Still I do like this place — it has a pretty decent beer garden, and there is also one of those video game boxes which has a huge collection of classic arcade games, if that is what you like(though I’m never really all that good at them). However I would recommend you avoid the place on a Friday because as I’ve suggested it does get pretty crowded.

To the point: The Park Hotel is a neighborhood pub that, no doubt, the locals of the area probably enjoy popping by for a brewsky or two, and maybe a bite. The place is relatively large, with a nice-sized bar in one room, an indoor dining area in another, and an outdoor courtyard in back.(I think that’s what I saw.) The whole place is fairly nondescript, but sorta like«Cheers.» There was a nominal selection of beers on-tap(the usual suspects). Had myself a large Mountain Goat Steam Ale($ 10), which, as always, was refreshing and good. This is one of those joints where you order your meals from the menu bar, and they come and serve you at your table. The menu consisted of the usual pub fare of burgers, fish-n-chips, parmas, and the like. I decided to order what was listed as a mushroom burger with eggplant(and a side of fries/chips)($ 18). The mushrooms sounded good, but I’m not a fan of eggplant, so I told them to hold it. When the meals started arriving piecemeal — we had a large group there, and not everyone ordered at exactly the same time — I was eyeing the plates of others. What was coming out looked very good. One of the guys ordered the junior chicken parma and it was HUGE! Another ordered the regular-sized parma and that one was HUMUNGOUS!(I wished I had ordered the junior, myself.) My mushroom«burger» arrived looking hearty. So far so good. There definitely was no eggplant on it. Great. When I saw the word«burger» I was thinking a beef patty with mushrooms on it. Alas, their term for«burger» was actually the eggplant! In short, my «burger» consisted entirely of sautéed whole mushrooms(with some lettuce and condiments). Bloop! Needless to say, I was really missing my protein that night… That said, what was served was good. The fries were done well, too. Just was a bit disappointed with the $ 18 mushroom«sandwich.» Oh, well, next time I’ll know better — although, I doubt there’ll be a next time…

On a couple of further visits here I haven’t had any issues with the staff being cold. On a weeknight there’s a calmness about the place. Music is chilled, most of the patrons the same… Foods well priced pub fare with great portions like I’ve said in my previous review. $ 15 parma nights on Tues, burger night also mid week. Mountain Goat Steam Ale on tap and good selection by the bottle from Moo Brew all the way through to Coopers and Lick Pier ginger beer(delicious). Great local if you’re in the area.

Technically, this pub is our ‘local’. Unfortunately, we find ourselves heading further afield than we’d like in search of a quiet night at the pub. But the Park Hotel has a lovely beer garden, open fires in winter, and a kitchen offering a wide variety of dishes you say? Well, yes, it has all those things. But it also has the rudest waitress I’ve ever encountered. She’s ruined our night out several times already with her surly disdain, and now, we just keep on walking, on a mission to find a new ‘local’…

Not sure if the young lady in the kitchen wanted me to leave or just not ask for anything, but she was pretty hostile. Food 10/10, service from partial employee, −2÷10, overall, 7⁄10. I’d come back…

After an excellent afternoon drinking in the park, we came to the closest pub(more for decent facilities than any other reason) we ordered drinks and some dinner — cash only. The waitress was quote«offensive and/or wanted me to die» from one our party and«too cool to acknowledge our existence» from another. Food was pretty good, standard pub fare, standard pup prices. Overall, the waitress marred out otherwise decent experience. Also, total sausage fest.

I was at the Park Hotel for a head wetting(hmm. no I’m not kidding.) a few weeks ago. The proud dad chose the location, I think(being a previous resident of Abbotsford). well he misses the area. It was a Thursday night so it wasn’t that busy — still a good turnout but not packed. We did not have anything to eat so I can’t comment on the menu but you can expect to get a great(again. per the man of the night’s own words) parma, fish and chips etc. They’ve got Coopers on tap which is great and they’re not bad on the basic cocktails either. Pinball machine and a pool table at the back, a huge TV on the wall, the Park Hotel is not bad… not bad at all and only a short walk from Collingwood station so quite convenient if you’re commuting.

This pub’s pretty good, they have pinball and Coopers on tap. The food is pretty good, I had one of my best steaks ever here. Nice beer garden out the back too.
