It was not bad, but it was not that good. I will go back to San Francisco and I won’t remember this place. Maybe I ordered a wrong cut(lomo) maybe my appetizer was not the one they make so good(chorizo) but every bite I took I thought of Don Julio. It was $ 100 pesos cheaper than above mentioned restaurant.

I was a bit wary of this joint judging by the waiters all decked out in their little black bow ties and the formality(I distrust an over the top formal parilla, its meat folks, relax a little). However, I was impressed with La Choza. A few things to keep in mind: for some startling reason they don’t serve a cut of beef that I love, Vacio. So strange, no explanation offered, we were just told they don’t carry that cut like saying they don’t accept mastercard. Speaking of cards, they accept debit and credit which is a change of pace for Palermo. The portion sizes are big and the prices are spot on. The salad we ordered was giant, fresh and a great balance on top of the meaty entrée. Where they really stand out is the service, its speedy and attentive without being overbearing. A nice little spot to enjoy a peaceful relaxing evening while dining on delicious meat very well prepared.

Blown away by this place! 7 of us had gone to another barrio parrilla for a nice dinner out on a Sunday night and the place was out of literally half their menu so a friend suggested this place. We arrived around 11pm and they said they had everything on the menu but that it would be a bit of a wait. We said we would wait outside and literally within minutes the main host brought all of us champagne and several cosas para picar. We were pretty much sold right then and there. We were seated within 20 – 30 minutes which didn’t matter because we were full of champ. We ordered two portions of mollejas slightly crunchy and with lots of lemon. They were cooked to perfection! Milky, tender and exceptionally good. Additionally we ordered several chorizos, all great, a huge arugula salad with fresh shaved parm, warm buttered bread, a bottle of wine and beers. For mains, we ordered the bife de ojo(Rib eye) cooked to a mouthwatering medium rare and bife de chorizo(ny strip) also grilled up like a champion along with papa fritas(excellent French fries). Our server was spectacular. Typically you tip anywhere from 10−15% and we made sure to go far above and beyond that. Everyone at the table kept saying how amazing the service was, his demeanor and how it literally paled in comparison to the«service» in the US. We had gone to La Cabrera earlier in the week(moment of stupid expat weakness) and this place is far superior. Will gladly return!

UGH. Our last dinner in Buenos Aires, and what a disappointment! Was it the slow service, the indifferent server, or the BROKENGLASS in our sausage? Hmm, maybe all of the above. Things started out well. It was busy when we arrived at around 9:30 pm, and the hostess told us it would be 20 – 25 minutes. It was more than that, but they offered us a glass of sparkling wine in the meantime, so we were fine with waiting. They had English menus but our server didn’t speak English, so you should be prepared to order in Spanish here. We ordered what I thought was a lot of food: two empanadas, a chorizo, a salad, one portion of asado, fries, and a bottle of wine. But our server insisted that the asado was too small to share and we needed one each, so on his advice, we ordered two portions. In fact, one order of asado is not only more than enough for two, but it comes in two pieces! So we felt taken advantage of and misled into over-ordering. It wasn’t the money, it’s that we didn’t like feeling cheated. The courses were poorly timed: the wine and empanadas came out quickly, but then we sat for over 30 minutes for a single sausage. Then everything else arrived all at once. Meanwhile, we saw other tables receiving their food both faster and in the correct order. We caught our server’s eye several times, but he didn’t seem to care that we were stranded without food. The worst part, though, as I may have mentioned, was when my boyfriend bit down on a SHARDOFBROKENGLASS in the chorizo(see photo). Obviously that killed our appetite for the sausage! We showed it to the server and he shrugged it off, literally gave us a thumbs-up, and took the shard of glass away, never to be seen again. His indifference to food safety bothered us enough that I mentioned it to the hostess and manager afterward, but they didn’t seem to care or understand why we were upset. They shrugged it off by saying they didn’t make the sausage, and eventually offered to take it off the check when they saw we still weren’t happy. But again, it wasn’t about the few dollars that it cost, it was about us wanting them to care that there was BROKENGLASSINTHEFOODTHEYWERESERVING. I don’t think they really understood that, even after our very awkward conversation. Imagine how horrified any restaurant in the U.S. would be if you showed them broken glass that came out of their food! The food itself(at least, the part that didn’t have broken glass) was fine, not the greatest, but we had a hard time enjoying our meal after all that. It’s true that this doesn’t seem to be a place that caters to tourists, but we felt ignored and poorly served. Most of our parrilla meals have been so good that it’s a shame we had to leave on such a sour note. I can’t recommend this place to visitors who are here for a short time when there are so many other better dining experiences out there.

La Choza is one of our«go to» places in Palermo. Aside from liking the food, service and ambiance, it’s less than 2 blocks from our house. Consequently we dine here about every week to 10 days when we’re in town. It’s a nicer than average parilla that is frequented mostly by locals. For some reason, it’s under the radar of most tourists, even though it’s walking distance from Palermo Soho. We really appreciate that they have outdoor seating. Food: 4 stars — Everything we have ordered here has been above average. A couple of nights ago C ordered a spinach salad that most people order to share. She loved it. I ordered the trucha salmonda(trout). Three fillets basking in butter with capers and a baked potato. Outstanding! I usually order bife with frites, because the frites are really tasty. I can’t comment on the desserts because we just can’t eat any more than our dinner. Service: 4 stars — Above average for an Argentine restaurant. In general, Argentine service is slower than it is in the U.S. Largely, I think, because restaurants are not hell bent on turning tables and people are planning to spend a good portion of the evening relaxing and enjoying their meal and wine. That being said, La Choza’s waiters are more prompt and attentive than in many similar parillas. Ambiance: 4 stars — Many parillas are dark. La Choza’s ambiance is tastefully bright. We keep going back, again and again; year after year.

We were looking for a nice restaurant to have dinner, we found this place on Unilocal. We were seated fairly quickly for a restaurant that was completely full of locals and tourists alike. We were given complementary wine as we waited for our table, that was a really nice touch. The meat was really good, I had the skirt steak and my wife had the filet mignon, which was served as skewers. No complaints on the food, cooked to a nice medium-rare. Our salad was simple, yet quite savory. The wine we ordered was superb. There is in-door and out-door seating. And our bill came out AR $ 449, which came out to USD $ 56. Can’t beat that price.

Very nice steakhouse restaurant. While it is close to tourist places, it is the one where typically local people go. It has a nice variety of food. It’s better to make a reservation, because the wait can be long, even on Thursday. I don’t know if it always happens, but while I was waiting, the hostess(and she behaves like the owner of this place) was giving people either a small glass of wine or pouring some sparkling wine(champagne-style) together with some appetizers(all complementary).
