Fenicia is a nice choice for dinner if you’re staying nearby. The restaurant was a bit too brightly lit for our taste, but the food was fresh-tasting, well-prepared and reasonably priced. The service was at the typically slow Latin pace — don’t go here if you’re in a hurry. For an appetizer we ordered a large caprese salad to share. It was mede of chopped tomatoes and cheese, and garnished with shredded basil and olive oil. The portion was plenty large enough to share, and very flavorful. For dinner I ordered the negro(squid ink) pasta stuffed with salmon and covered with a creamy mushroom sauce. The pasta was done perfectly al dente, and the sauce was delicious. Overall, a good value for the neighborhood.

We actually stumbled upon the restaurant by chance while staying in Buenos Aires. Located just blocks from the Alvear Art Hotel it was a pleasant surprise. The menu was moderately priced and popular with the locals. The menu offers a variety of Italian entrees along with selections of beef, lamb, chicken and seafood. The restaurant also offers a generous selection of wines from a variety of countries. I ordered the cappresse salad which was very generous in size and can easily be shared. They offer a complimentary basket of breads which goes great with the salad. For my main course I selected the Salmon with Roguefort cream sauce and fried potatoes. This was a little risky for my palate but I was pleasantly surprised. The Roguefort(blue cheese) cream sauce was very good. The blue cheese wasn’t at all over powering. As a side dish I chose a creamed spinach that was excellent. My only reason for not giving a solid FIVE stars is the lack of table space and intimacy. The tables are a little closer than I prefer for an evening dinner. Not something that would bother me at lunch time but dinner it felt a little close. The restaurant restrooms are located on the second floor and the restaurant has no elevator.
