Al Carbon

Bien por Al Carbón, que entrega un ambiente tranquilo, sin olor a humo y con buenos platos para todos los oficinistas en una reunión o celebración.
Si caminan por Reconquista, probablemente no lo vean. Su entrada no dice mucho, pero dentro se despliega un local de grandes dimensiones y un primer piso.
Como mencionaba, los comensales generalmente son oficinistas en reunión o en salida grupal paga por la empresa, dado que los precios son bastante salados. Calculen 400 pesos por persona (con postre pero sin vino).
Para aquellos que no amen la parrilla, tienen variedad de otras opciones, como pasta o pescado.

Esta parrilla está bien para el público al que apunta:
Extranjeros o argentinos no residentes en buenos aires que vienen a hacer negocios.
Si sos Argentino y estás de paseo por acá, seguramente vas a encontrar varias opciones mejores y con mejor precio que esta.
La atención está muy bien, tienen mozos con mucha experiencia y el despacho es rápido.
La comida es de primera calidad, incluso aquello que no sale de la parrilla, especialidad del restaurant, como pastas, pescados y postres.
El precio, salado, pero acorde a la categoría y a la zona.
Es para ir de día, salvo que te estés alojando en alguno de los hoteles del área. Tienen mesas redondas para 10, ideales para charlas de negocios.

While staying in the microcentro (downtown) Buenos Aires and looking for some steak I came across «Al Carbon»
This place has a nice ambiance and looks kind of upscale, at the time I decided to come in for dinner (7pm) it was not a busy time since Argentinians tend to have dinner late like 9pm and later.
I asked for a steak (Ojo de bife) with a side of mashed potatoes; also made sure to ask for it «jugoso» which means for the steak to be rare. They did not disappoint and the steak was perfectly cooked (since I ordered rare this means it was barely, but that’s what I had requested)
Service here was good, they only serve 3 different kinds of beer including the local Quilmes beer. As an appetizer I had the beef empanada, it was okay but this is a place known for their meats. I would recommend you stick to ordering meats and enjoy your meal.

Had a great meal. Trusted the waiter and had the skirt steak and a wonderful Malbec. All was top notch and non-​pretentious. Enjoyed very much!

Good spot for an occasional nice steak dinner with company.
Edibles: The steak is good, but make sure to be proactive in requesting that it be «jugoso» (they didn’t ask me, and it came out overcooked). Other menu options are quite nice, even fancy, if not liberal in portion size. My empanada, for example, was particularly tasty and particularly small.
Non-​edibles: Nicer environment that in most local restaurants, but distinctively NOT characteristic of Buenos Aires. The interior belongs in a different city, although I can’t identify which, just as I can’t identify to which city the clientele belongs; you’re quite likely to hear a nice variety of languages at the tables around you… that is, depending on how many other customers there are around you.
And that brings up the interesting point of the service. It seems to be somewhat slow, or perhaps favoritistic. There was almost nobody else in the local when I arrived at 8:45, what should be the peak of dinner time here, and yet my wine and empanada took about 10 minutes to arrive after I ordered them. My attendant seemed to keep himself to two other tables.
So I have mixed feelings about this place. I wouldn’t recommend it as representative of what Buenos Aires has to offer, but it’s nice for what it is.

We were offered a sit but nobody came to serve us. We were ignored for 15 minutes and left the place. Terrible service.

A relatively hidden gem. Small on the outside, initially small on the inside. Fantastic happy hours, gets busy with locals as the night goes on. Great food, freshly cooked. Highly recommended.

Excelente! Buen ambiente, tranquilo y agradable. Ideal para los extranjeros sirven muy buena carne excelentemente cocinada y esta muy cerca de los sitios de interés turístico.
La atención es buena, muy rápido el servicio.

Al carbón…:fui para el almuerzo y fue muy agradable la carne bien prorrata, entraña un corte liso bajo en grasa y con gran sabor.
Tocar venir a cenar y probar un buen vino

The prices are good for the area and the selection is also on par. The appetizers offer a wide variety and the meat selection is good. We had the a single pork sausage (chorizo) an order of Mollejas with the chimichurri and «salsa». It was crispy and not under cooked. Having had meat for lunch at another establishment, I was looking for a pasta and that selection is very limited. So I just ordered a Bahia salad and called it a dinner. I would come back as my coworkers enjoyed their steaks.

Wasn’t expecting much after the previous poor reviews, but I was pleasantly surprised. The gnocchi was the best I’ve had on this trip to Argentina and the spread for the bread is great.
My wife enjoyed her risotto quite a bit as well. We can’t speak to the steak — perhaps that is the reason this place hasn’t been well reviewed, but their pasta is quite good!

3.5 stars. I stopped for lunch and even though most of the restaurant was empty, they wanted me to have had a reservation. They provide menus in English and the staff also knew some English so that helped. They also take credit cards and had wifi. The interior was nice and had character. My food was worthy of 4-​stars. I had shrimp and mango ice cream for dessert.

Para resumir: Al restaruante Al Carbón se va a cerrar negocios.
Al mediodía no suele haber grupos de compañeros de oficina, son casi siempre mesas de dos, tres o cuatro personas almorzando y hablando de negocios. Es el típico lugar al que tenés que ir si querés quedar bien con un cliente o negociar un acuerdo especial con un proveedor.
También suele haber unos cuantos turistas en búsqueda de buena carne argentina.
El ambiente es cómodo, un poco íntimo y se puede hablar tranquilo. La atención es excelente, con mozos atentos que se acuerdan de todo y servicio rápido.
Respecto a la comida, es excelente. Como se imaginarán por su nombre, es esencialmente una parrilla y todo lo que ahí se cocine está muy bien. Recomiendo el ojo de bife, es perfecto. Pero también ofrecen pastas y pescados.
Lógicamente, es mas caro que otras opciones de la zona. Pero también es distinto. Vas a almorzar muy bien en un ambiente relajado.

Al Carbón es una parrilla sobre la calle Reconquista, rodeada de grandes edificios de oficinas y hoteles para turistas que se pasean por esta peatonal.
No es que la comida sea mala, para nada. Pero es como si uno sintiese que está en el lugar equivocado, pagando absurdamente de más para comer algo tan tradicional como un asado. Es que, más que para ir a cenar en una salida, esta parrilla viene a ser algo así como el lugar ideal para aquellos que suelen invitar a almorzar a grandes inversores extranjeros a un restaurante «típico argentino» que de típico sólo tiene la comida. De ahí, seguramente, que tenga un salón privado para catorce cubiertos que más que un salón privado es casi una sala de conferencias.
Ideal para un almuerzo elegante de trabajo, aunque seguramente no es la mejor opción para aquellos que preferimos comer hasta reventar en alguna parrilla al paso con un parrillero gordo con un delantal manchado de grasa.

Típico lugar que parece súper turístico y decís «acá no entro ni por casualidad». Queridos, entren que está bueno. No solo la comida es riquísima, sino que no es cara, considerando lo que te puede llegar a costar comer afuera. La atención es buenísima y nunca vas a sentir que el mozo no te da pelota. Cuando entrás, probablemente escuches que en cada mesa están hablando en un idioma distinto. No hay que dejarse llevar por los prejuicios. He ido varias veces y, la verdad, no tengo nada para decir en contra.
