Konditorei Wendl

Super leckere Milchshakes. Pfannkuchen schmecken auch hervorragend und zum Samstagmittag sind die Brötchen noch fluffig, locker, lecker, warm gebacken. Die sind das Geld echt wert!

Freundliche Bedienung, immer ofenfrische Brötchen, auch sonntags geöffnet, wenn auch mit einer längeren Wartezeit.

Eigentlich bin ich kein großer Fan von großen Ketten. Diese aber lohnt sich! Gute Preise und noch bessere Produkte! Auch mit dem Service bin ich zufrieden!

While visiting Leipzig, I had begun to feel that the restaurant scene was mostly concentrated in the old city center with overpriced food mainly catered to its tourists; so much so that I was just buying food from the supermarket… until I stumbled upon this very fine bakery/​café!
Wendl is definitely the nicest café I had the pleasure of dining in during my European travels. There’s comfortable seating in the back to just catch up with friends, read the newspaper, or just relax with some very tasty pastries.
That’s a bit uncommon for me as I find most pastries aren’t really much better than store-​bought loaves of bread due to freshness, cost, sweetness, or a combination of all three. But Wendl excelled in each area; I saw them making more pastries constantly due to the constant stream of customers (there were a lot of locals stopping by that Sunday where the surrounding 5 block perimeter of this bakery was literally dead) and priced below even my most optimistic expectations (I was hoping to find some pastries under a euro, but almost all here were)! And they were all very tasty.
Wendl requires a definite visit if I ever return to Leipzig!
